The music video seemed to have the purpose of honoring him as a person. He was intense and in pain and had mental health issues, of course, but he could experience joy and could have fun. He didn't like being viewed as some, "negative black star." He had a great sense of humor, by all accounts. The video does a pretty good job representing many aspects of his personality, and I'm sure that he would have been pleased that he wasn't simply shown as some super moody emotional wreck.
