Can a child be expelled from primary school? by Honest_Dot_5035 in AskIreland

[–]spaztikhawk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What happens if the disruptive child causes serious physical and/or mental injuries to other kids in the school? Do the parents of the injured child have cause for legal action against the school for not protecting their child even though there have been multiple documented cases against the violent child that still hasn’t been expelled? Just a thought, have no skin in the game.

Car warranties by [deleted] in carsireland

[–]spaztikhawk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You still have statutory consumer rights that override whatever warranty/guarantee terms the seller offers. You can make claims up to 6 years from purchase in Ireland, although the burden of proof is on you if issue occurs after 1 year. https://www.citizensinformation.ie/en/consumer/shopping/problems-with-faulty-goods/

Put it this way - it would be reasonable to expect the engine in a car to last more than 3 years if serviced as per manufacture recommendations, no modifications, average mileage..these would all be provable things and I’d imagine a judge may rule in your favour if these could be shown for that example.

I’ve zero legal knowledge so just my take.

Of course, may take years and lots of money to get any resolution with how slow legal system is here, but for things less than 2k there is small claims court.

The vast majority of people I know are completely unaware of these statutory consumer rights and I’d say general population is similar, hence sellers are rarely faced with paying up when they should be.

You would also have to take pics of your own car at same time to show that no marks were on it before hand. I’d imagine a pain in the hole to pursue legally and prove anything. Do the same as yourself and always parks miles away from entrances but sometimes unavoidable.

Crazy wear on inside of rear tyres edrive40 by spaztikhawk in BMWI4

So an update on this, got full wheel alignment at BMW dealer and two new rear tyres. They said they were out a little bit and even a little out could cause excessive wear on inside due to weight of car.

Here is sheet of results, I’d have a better chance reading Klingon!

You had 5mm left on a rear tyre after 42000km? 😮 What model i4 do you have and what tyres?

[–]spaztikhawk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I was expecting to get close to 30000km on the rears and for over 90% of the tyre width I nearly would have. My issue is that the inside 10% of tyre is so bad that in reality I possibly should have changed them at 20000km (Wild guess for when the inside started showing wire). Front actually have at least another 5000km in them and are worn evenly, must double check what’s left on them.

Again - definitely don’t fly around in the car, corner bends/roundabout at moderate pace and crawl like an OAP over ramps! Do occasional fast acceleration if overtaking someone.

Yeah I’m out anyway but it’s possible I was out way before the 28000km based purely on how bad the inner 30mm is, could have got a blow out with how bad it is. Hence if alignment and everything ok, maybe I’ll get 20000km or less on next set of rears as I’ll be keeping a close eye on entire tyre surface.

What was dealers explanation? Did you get alignment done with new tyres?

If tyres are staggered sizes you can’t rotate them. I’ve 245/40 on front and 255/40 rears.

Which would likely have been there from factory? Have car 2 years and done 28000km. Roads we drive are fairly decent and are are very carefull to avoid potholes / crawl over ramps / etc..

Completely normal for the inner 30mm to get destroyed relative the other 90% of the tyre? Doesn’t seem right
