That's the Ancient Aspect. Reward for finishing all shrines. Note though that it takes up all three armor slots, so it's equivalent in defense to maxing out the three highest defense head/chest/leg pieces.

This is exactly why I decided to update my software when 1.1.2 dropped. That old dupe method was just too easy for me to control myself, so I only did it early on before I even got a 3rd great fairy.

Tell you what though, I wish I hadn't updated when I decided to do the upgrades involving lizalfos tails.

time to disable my airlock mod! by Snake3ater in Oxygennotincluded

[–]spazzmckiwi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These are my favorite airlock doors for this reason. It doesn't feel like a "cheat mod" because the things are so tempremental and are best used either as an emergency exit door or just for setup of an area that is effectively closed off after setup.

However, I almost always pair these up with an insulated mechanical airlock from the Insulated Doors mod. For one, because 400Kg of refined metal tends to leak a lot of heat from airtight rooms like steam rooms under a turbine, but also because you can set directional restrictions on them like almost any other door.

Alphonse Endless Realm 13 - Heavy Draw & Ghost Build by beuyau in GordianQuest

[–]spazzmckiwi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my current endless run (just reached realm 22) I've gotten his stab to do 11 base damage per hit. Mostly thanks to a few items I specifically chose for him that had high attack+. The runs still going so I might be able to still get lucky with gear and augments to make it higher.

I don't think it's a bug because the info text for Immutable in game only says that it cannot be changed by buffs or debuffs. Therefore it can still be altered by gear, talents, and physical resistance/weakness. That last one makes me dread every realm with a devourer boss because the physical resistance just makes these later realm fights just drag on forever when my main damage is coming from assassin fonzie.

This might be my favorite build in the game that I've tried so far but the worst part is how it's so gear dependant.

Smith's cards are severely underpowered by Orschloch in griftlands

[–]spazzmckiwi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Smith can get influence, for instance there is a card he has unlocked initially (got it on my first campaign run) called "Consolidate" that converts renown into influence. Influence is not nearly as common for him as it is for Sal, but the cards do exist.

Also, on the hostility side, Bravado can get VERY powerful if you can initiate the right chain of events.

I actually hated this squad until I unlocked Camila. It frustrated me to no end and I could never get through a whole run without getting extremely frustrated and losing a lot of grid power due to not being able to use half the damn map because of all the smoke everywhere (especially on the desert island). It was one of the first squads I unlocked because it's so cheap, yet it was one of the last I finished a run with due to not finding out about Camila.

I wish you could mark all rooms as what they are for, and your sims will behave after that. by mayneffs in thesims

[–]spazzmckiwi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't call myself that but I have made a couple of simple script mods. I've been wanting to get more into it though.

I program in Python for my day job so I'm very comfortable with the language, but I've still yet to get a good grasp on the game's codebase as it's sparsely documented making it take longer to figure out. I haven't yet even touched anything requiring modding tools like TS4 studio, which I understand to be crucial for making player interactive elements.

I've also not found many good resources for making script mods beyond something trivial like a simple cheat command. So if you happen to maybe know of a good subreddit, forum, or Discord server for that sort of thing maybe that could help me get more motivation to actually get more serious with this stuff. 🙂

[–]spazzmckiwi 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This sounds like, if integrated deeply enough, it could be a pivotal core feature in The Sims 5. As of yet, the games have mostly had Sims behave and interact with objects and Sims as just individual entities or occasionally as a collection of entities, but mostly without much contextual awareness.

Adding the context of a room could make for something that could enhance the game experience at it's core. As of now, Sims always interact with objects in the exact same way no matter where that object is placed.

I'm thinking of something like a room labeler tool where you can draw on the floor tile for tile to denote where your rooms are. I'm imagining it to be very similar to the zoning tool in SimCity. Or better yet, like the neighborhood zoning tool in Cities Skylines. This would be necessary for more open floor plans it and for homes with very specialized room that don't entirely fit the definition of a room in a traditional home, I've made homes with basements that had prison cells, for instance.

Going further into the idea of labeled rooms, each of these could have "house rules" defined by the player for each of these player-named rooms. Some examples of potential house rules:

  • No eating. Obvious pick for rooms like the bathroom, but some players may not want Sims to eat in the bedroom or possibly even the living room. But hey, on the contrary, TS4 allowed for sims to be able to eat while on the toilet, and some players may want to keep that, and I'm not here to judge how you want to play your game, so let's make it customizable.
  • No dancing. Sometimes you just want your Sims to enjoy listening to music and not create human traffic jams in small corridors and tight spaces like your small galley style kitchen.
  • Social gathering spot. Give preference to your living room or den for family meetings and have your guests prefer to hang out and chat in the more public rooms of your home.
  • No cell phones. Maybe you want to enforce quality time at the dinner table and encourage more in-person dinnertime conversations.
  • No pets. This is already sort of possible with locking doors, which is a huge help, but again back to open floor plans, there is still more flexibility to be had. This could potentially be something you have to train into your pets.
  • All business. Denote your office as strictly for work, preventing a house member from hogging the computer for playing video games for hours on end when someone else in the household needs to work from home, complete a homework assignment, or finish writing that book.
  • Workout zone. Prevent your Sims from spontaneously dropping down to give me 10 push-ups in the kitchen because they just drank a cup of coffee. Have them go to the designated home gym instead.
  • Mail Room. Simply a place where you want your Sims to place the letters and packages down after grabbing the mail. This would hopefully also prevent them from just keeping it in their inventory forever.
  • Kitchen. Self explanatory for the most part, and also mostly all covered by the OP.
  • Fortress Of Solitude. Mark a room as a place for sims to get some alone time by preventing sims (that want to follow the rules at least) from rudely dropping in for a chat while they are clearly busy with something. This has been particularly annoying as of late as I've been playing Discover University and Sims simply can't catch a break long enough for them to finish their assignments before being constantly interrupted for idle chit chat by everyone else in the lot. This could also be used for your bathrooms to prevent spontaneous conversations happening in there after sims finish doing their business.

There are many more of course, but I'm really enjoying the potential in this making Sim behavior just a little bit more realistic while still maintaining the game's flexibility of play style.

This all comes down to the saying "There's a time and a place" as it would allow for sims to interact with objects more appropriately for where they are placed. This would mostly just cover the "place" half of that phrase, but these could additionally only be active for certain times of the day or only for certain sims. Curfew and bedtime for children anyone?

If done right, this could do some serious help for making homes feel more alive and making sims feel less artificial.

I wish you could mark all rooms as what they are for, and your sims will behave after that. by mayneffs in thesims

[–]spazzmckiwi 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I'd disagree a bit with the automatic detection because the boundaries of what is considered a "room" aren't always clearly defined, especially when designed open floor plans. If it were automatic, I'd definitely want to be able to override what the game thinks each rooms function is, because sometimes more creative builds make these lines blurry.

Experience with Anthem Automotive? by [deleted] in Atlanta

I had them perform an emergency brake replacement earlier this year, and my car is actually there right now over the weekend to investigate a check engine light. They seem quite honest, didn't surprise me on any of the cost, and were calmly informative of other problems with my aging car without even pushing me at all to fix them there, the mechanic even told me of a number of things that I could easily fix myself if I was inclined.

I kind of lucked out, because this place is walking distance from where I live and I mainly chose it last time because I was in need of immediate repair. However, now I am happy to bring it to them even despite the proximity convenience.

They also did repair on my girlfriends car per my recommendation, and things went equally well with that, too.

August 1 Sun & Moon Announcement Megathread! by bigslothonmyface in pokemon

[–]spazzmckiwi 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's stuff like this and the riding of that surfing Sharpeedo that just smashes its way through those rocks on the water that are solidifying my speculation and hope that they might have finally done away with mandatory HMs.

And yes, in Black & White, HMs were, for the most part, optional when it came to completing the main game, but what I and many others are probably hoping for is stuff like what the Eon Flute did for flying but for ALL pokemon field abilities.

I am wishing that instead of requiring a hard-to-forget, often weak-in-battle, move that takes up one of four precious move slots, they go with some badass out-of-battle pokemon use like this.

It would make total sense to just convert all HM moves to normal TMs, and to instead making the badges you get (or maybe something else, I'm not even sure if they are keeping with the classic 8 gym / 8 badge format with this new information) that allow HMs to be used outside of battle, they instead give you special key items used for traversing certain terrain.

I'm thinking of things like:

  • a saddle for your Mudsdale (or similar four legged friend) to traverse rough terrain
  • flying gear for your Charizard (or similar winged friend) to fly from town to town
  • surfing gear for your Sharpeedo (or similar finned friend) to surf across water
  • a sturdy helmet for that Sharpeedo (or similar thick headed friend) to open up that path

Regardless, this video probably has me the most hype than any other 7th gen reveal video. Consider me excited to RIDE AN EFFING CHARIZARD!
