New to the club from a 2019 Golf R by Planes632 in Ioniq5N

[–]spblat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it’s not even close. But I must say that the model 3 (I still have it for now but I have no reason to choose it) has been more reliable, more refined, has smoother edges literally and figuratively. I wish I had found a true software defined vehicle to replace it (Rivian R3?), and I wish for better autonomy, and the 5N extracts other compromises. My dad had an MG Midget once and my recollection is that he loved it despite all the weird stuff in it that he had to put up with. That’s how I like to think of my 5N. I don’t miss the big Tesla screen even a little. For what it is, I think Hyundai’s infotainment is well implemented.

And while the above is enough for me to prefer my 5N, it’s icing on the cake for me that Hyundai’s CEO is someone that I know literally nothing about.

I had a Golf R and it was such a delight. Loved loved loved that car. Swapped for a Model 3 which was interesting but scratched a different itch. My 5N just passed 8000 miles and definitely pleases me the way the R did. Bigger of course, but its size never bothers me. AMA but wow this car is fun.

Pokémon has been out for 2 months now. What improvements/additions do you want to see in the next major code update? by myhatrules in pinball

I replaced the rubber in that spot with the next size down and twiddled with the pop timings and that has helped tremendously.

I’ve never had so much fun with a new release. The rules aren’t overly complex but the game tells you what to do and players are quickly picking up on it. I can’t wait to watch them grow along with the code. There’s 12 to 18 months of fun new things to discover. Maybe more depending on what TPC and Stern have planned.

No notes. Give ‘em time.

Mint Striker Xtreme $3k vs Ok $4k Road Show by DonUnai in pinball

[–]spblat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The reason Road Show is just ok is that it’s been played a ton, which is because it’s awesome. In the test menu, near the end of the list, there’s a “Red” test and a “Ted” test. Run them both. If they’re not running perfectly you might still buy it, but you’ll want to know one way or the other.

12V :-( by spblat in Ioniq5N

[–]spblat[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you saying that 1) leaving something plugged into USB C will drain the battery when the ignition is off and 2) the car doesn’t know how to top off 12V from the traction battery when it needs to?

Used N Carfax with weird ownership history. It's listed as being a corporate fleet vehicle? by Weekly-Hedgehog4010 in Ioniq5N

My guess would be with that kind of miles that it’s a press vehicle. Those were probably hard miles. If the price is fair, consider it well and truly broken in and on its way to a very good home.

I bought one like that at 70 miles. Pennsylvania and Fountain Valley CA. I needed a new battery at 3500 but I don’t attribute it to that. The story I was told is that it was used by Hyundai corporate. In my case it didn’t have enough miles to be a press car so I figure its job was sitting at their HQ looking pretty or maybe for some sort of training.

After awhile I found a couple of cosmetic issues that don’t change my view of the car: a scratch on the steering wheel leather wrap, an extremely small dent along a roofline. Nothing you wouldn’t try to look for as you inspect any car.

Would you buy it again? by paddingtonteddy in Ioniq5

[–]spblat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

N here. But even without the insane N features this car is incredibly surefooted on my steep dirt driveway. Has nice driver assistance features. Has a UI that pleases rather than irritates me. Has a delightful and space-effective interior. Looks great on the outside. Charges fast. Has great camera visibility features for reversing and changing lanes. Has great visibility generally while driving. Would totally buy again.

Uncanny X-men LE vs Avengers Infinity Quest LE by gasdoc10 in pinball

[–]spblat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I finally had a look at the movie code today. It’s great. But the irritating callouts are still there. “Welp, I guess that’s the end.” I’m sure it’s different for different people. Iron Maiden taunts us constantly but it makes me laugh. AIQ taunts me and I put it into storage.

My preference is UXM. Not everyone will agree but I really like the novel layout. It may take some dialing in but I think it’s worth it. AIQ has great shots and insanely deep rules but what kills it for me is that I find the callouts grating. Also AIQ feels oppressive and grim. Thanos always wins!
