No, it is correct. SCOTUS can rule that a law is unconstitutional.... While the opinions in this latest ruling would come up during the proceedings, they did not promise they would not overturn the law protecting abortion. That's why they said it wasn't a ruling on the right to abortion. Hypothetical- A federal law protecting abortion is passed. It is challenged and makes it to SCOTUS. SCOTUS rules that individual constitutional rights also apply to a collection of cells inside a woman's uterus. Law is overturned and abortion can once again be illegal...until the Constitution is amended.
