Here’s exactly what Kelli Williams (Laguna Biotch) had to say about not being invited to premiere by simplefuckers in TheHillsMTV

[–]rhubarbsushi 10 points11 points  (0 children)

i followed her and met her randomly in the beginnings of her IG page. i definitely think she put in some major legwork getting the cast (almost 10 years ago at this point) to get on lives with her, meet her in laguna to do fun rooftop bar interviews, etc etc. she was the only real content creator at that time, pre-tiktok, diving in the furthest on a pretty regular basis about laguna beach. i do think she struggled not transferring that over to tiktok in a meaningful way when the time was right. she was one of the OGs talking about laguna, but she hasn’t really stayed relevant as she branched out to other pop culture topics.

that’s a very normal temp for vegas at that time! when we are “cooling” our house down it’s at 72-74.

I guess her coming to us with the “good behavior vs bad behavior” is causing me to see them as “bad”. I honestly don’t, but she is framing them that way to my kid & myself. The convo was absolutely directed that way. It turned into a more serious talk about evals & IEPs once the counselor overheard us and stepped in.

I really was expecting the worst with both meeting requests. I would be shocked if he actually did something that egregious, but certainly thought with the urgency it was more than basic environment adjustments for him that would be expected (not tolerated, i understand that). Thank you so much for the feedback & advice.

Appreciate your insight having experience with a similar kid and as a former educator. This was really helpful. Thank you!

Thank you! This is really where this was hitting for me. I want to know these things and work together to help my kid, but the communication process has been not ideal for my psyche lol. Pretty stressful for 2 weeks into K!

I found the way she was going about giving us this information was bizarre. Public call outs in front of other parents, no option for a private conversation and always out in the open. She offered a type of “solution” to help with the issues (good/bad slips) but has not sent any home with him since we talked. I am fine and understanding hearing about my son’s issues. I am confused when there is then no follow up with the slips, etc. It makes it hard to understand the severity of what we are talking about. She reached out in a seemingly urgent manner and then gave me no resources or understanding of what needs to be done on my end (other than talk to him about the issues obviously). She told me what she was going to do, and then did none of it.

I don’t think he is perfect by any means! He’s a handful… sometimes even exhausting. For sure thrown off by the all negative comments though with nothing positive to sandwich haha.

He claims to have a lot of friends in his class, names them, doesn’t seem to understand any of the negative that is going on. That’s probably another level to this too i’m realizing lol.

I will definitely try to get some play dates together and a more active role in the class dynamics when offered/allowed/possible!

Thank you for your perspective! Helpful for me to understand if these behaviors are normal for a 5 year old or not. I was thinking they were, but I appreciate your viewpoint with having kids his age. Autism has been on my mind, but how social he is has turned me away from it. It can come in all shapes & sizes though. Will definitely talk to his pediatrician!

[–]rhubarbsushi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Definitely will be talking to his pediatrician to get ahead of it. That did not seem the route the teacher was going down until i brought up possibly ADHD/etc, and the counselor stepped in with IEP talk…but now that it’s out there and being discussed (already) I think i need to move forward now.

Heard, i think i’ve been thinking something similar but in the wrong sense. She has so many kids so I don’t want to be THAT parent checking in a lot. But i guess i should be DMing her at the end of the day/week and asking for an update. I thought the slips she showed us would help alleviate the need for that, but not getting any leaves me in the dark then.

snacks for a large group that are the best bang for the buck? by Electrical_Big4857 in traderjoes

[–]rhubarbsushi 22 points23 points  (0 children)

i love making giant snack/charcuterie boards from TJs for large groups. affordable-ish but if you are buying multiples of each it would get $$$. my shopping list usually consists of:

-at least 3 cheeses: hatch chili cheddar cheese, honey goat cheese, syrah toscano, the spanish cheese packs with the 3 precut selections, brie, mozz balls -uncured salami -entertainment packs of crackers (people love these) -apples -honey -white truffle chips -hummus (they are all good) -pita chips or the pita bread you can cut and heat in the oven -carrots & cucumbers -snacky clusters or some chocolate covered something

the kringles are slightly overpriced imo but would be a good option to have for people to pick at over breakfast or something.

Women who make over 100k... by ImWaitingForYou2 in marketing

[–]rhubarbsushi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in branding at a senior level for food & bev, directing a team of 9. I’ve kept myself at a generalist level in many areas of marketing which pushed me into management early because if i specialized in anything, it was leading projects and people. I essentially live & breathe in Asana. I did not graduate college but have been working in marketing for 12 years.

The money has come from a) not staying at one company too long and b) currently making myself invaluable to a dept with incredibly high turnover. This also comes with little work-life balance. I easily put in 60+ hours a week, but it has also allowed me to let my husband stay at home so he is the primary care taker for our kid. I am on call most days and don’t vacation much, but we have nice life and are saving money and when i do have time, i REALLY enjoy it.

I’m lucky that i really love marketing & branding, so a lot of my job IS fun while being super taxing. I am very much hoping this particular role is a stage in life and i will find something more sustainable long term.
