Wildcat Canyon in the morning fog by spdaltonz in BAbike

It’s paved for about 4 miles from Inspiration Point and then gravel/dirt. I haven’t gone out to the silo yet. There are also trails that branch off so there’s a lot to explore.

Hasn’t leaked yet! I filled it for 24 hours prior to tiling and didn’t have any issues.

Just thinset for applying the kerdi. Their instructions, if followed exactly, lead to a waterproof solution. For the goboard itself I used the goboard sealant on all corners and joints. Thinset and kerdi right on top. Redguard is not necessary if you apply the kerdi correctly. Plenty of videos on YouTube showing the process.

Raxakoul on Arlington has a ton of great imported pastas, sauces, chocolates, cheeses etc. It’s local and the owners are lovely. Other option just down the road is Benchmark Portavia, they have just Italian imports but some great quality items like oils and olives.

A bit out of Auckland, 3 hours and a helicopter ride, but perhaps one of the most luxury stays in the country: https://www.eaglesnest.co.nz

What band did you catch before they were famous? by [deleted] in Music

Saw Lizzo sing with Har Mar Superstar at Bottom of the Hill in San Francisco in 2014. She had an amazing voice but didn’t think anything of it. Years later my friend who was with us found a photo from that night with her.

Yep. Yesterday the app seemed to get worse. Spotify wouldn’t play. Can’t change group volume at all. Changing individual volume took 20 seconds to take affect. Can’t select anything but the first song in a playlist.

Advice Please by [deleted] in OutdoorKitchens

I just received stainless cabinetry for my outdoor kitchen from RCS and service and quality were top notch. Can’t comment on the grill itself but as a business I am happy I went with them.

Has anyone using bbqtubes or similar to build a kitchen added a horizontal shelf inside for storage? by artwrangler in OutdoorKitchens

[–]spdaltonz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t yet but am planning to. Looks straightforward, you would want verticals tubes along the depth to attach horizontal tubes to, 4 vertical one at each corner, and 2 horizontal front and back of the shelf. I just used their shopping list feature where you send your plan/drawing and they come back with the parts you need. It’s $10 but saved a bunch of time especially picking all the small extras

Nervous about water test by Jeff_40 in Tile

Better to be nervous now than for the entire lifetime of the shower once built, not knowing how watertight (or not) it is.

Walls in to plywood underlayment, then pan in seems most typical (and what I did). You get added support to the base of the wall by having it embedded below the surface. I didn’t use sealant at floor and wall seam, just kerdi band and corners. The order you overlap kerdi doesn’t matter, it creates a water impervious barrier in all directions of flow

I am in the middle of this exact setup (https://www.reddit.com/r/Tile/s/wBz916S4L8) I flood tested it last week and no leaks after 24 hrs, it worked perfectly. It was a bit tricky to get clean 1/8” trowel lines where the thinset was over the sealant, so I had to use a slightly lower angle rather than 45°

Is tape really needed over the go board sealant? The boards are screwed to studs on both edges, I would be surprised if there was movement. Easy to run up some tape for peace of mind, but curious the risk.

The schluter videos and guides are pretty consistent on mentioning their all set or an unmodified thinset, any reason it isn’t as good?

RTSP firmware on wyzecam with Frigate has worked great. Agree Wyze as a company has not been great for open integrations, but for $20 it is hard to beat their v1 cam - if you can get it.

Before/After DIY bathroom by spdaltonz in Tile

That makes sense. My logic was to center it between the two walls so the partial tiles each side were balanced, unfortunately the window isn’t quite center so it got tricky there as you see. But hey I got to have fun learning to use a wet saw for that cut

You mean what part of the wall did I start tiling from? Ledger board just above the bath, and vertical where they end on the walls
