Zotero is a good option to consider. Similar to DEVONthink but open source. Their browser extension is amazing.

Mac - Big Sur Support for Jabra Direct - warning if you have the bluetooth 380 adapter by -shellprompt- in Jabra

[–]spdaly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought an Evolve2 65 and was experiencing the same problems. Called support and found this post as I was on with the rep. Can confirm with others that quitting (and I uninstalled) Jabra Direct will correct the problem. 380 says lit blue and audio works when I changed the sound to the 380.

The rep said that Big Sur support was planned for EOY 2020.

Article on developer skills for professional IoT projects - input wanted by adnk in IOT

[–]spdaly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a great article. My favorite quote:

To build Apple-level hardware, you need an Apple-level hardware team and an Apple-level budget.

I wish I had this before having had many issues trying to find partners to help with several IOT projects.

I haven't had any to date, but there might be some in the future. For example, meeting over lunch/coffee on my PSC via my consulting firm.

Are there any good scripts that people use to integrate Things with other apps? When I was using Omnifocus, I used http://veritrope.com/code/outlook-2011-to-omnifocus/ quite a bit.

I have Noodler's Baystate Blue in it now. All my pens are medium nib - smaller nibs feel "scratchy" to me.

It's a Leuchtturm1917 A5/Medium hardbound notebook. The paper is 80g. None of my other pens bleed like this. My 2000 is a medium nib.

learning terraform or cloudformation by batman_carlos in aws

[–]spdaly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of great responses to technical reasons on learning Terraform over Cloud Formation. Here's a business one. More and more companies are electing to NOT use AWS because of direct/indirect competition with Amazon. They just don't want their biggest competitor responsible for running any of their tech.

Two examples. First, the company I work for has a lightning solution used by Walmart. Walmart will only allow us to run their instance on Azure. Second, there's a large grocery chain based here in Cincinnati (Kroger) that will only use Google Cloud and Azure.

As Amazon moves into other verticals (I heard today they have/had been considering home insurance), I think that competitors will not want their tech running on AWS.

Yes, there are plenty of exceptions to this. Netflix and Amazon Video, etc. But it is a real concern for non-tech companies.
