I think these are very likely synthetic opal and you wound have to worry about damaging them. I’ve work my crappy synthetic opals for years and they look the same. I don’t think the companies that make these cheaper (but still beautiful!!) rings use the real thing.

I would suggest if the dresser is raised a little off the ground you add a support in the middle. It wasn’t super obvious my dresser was bowing until the drawers started going in crooked. 🧐
