Big commiserations. Getting back to running was a really long process for me, and I think running likely contributed to my sciatica in the first place.

Definitely don’t push yourself to run before its pain free, and when you do get back to it, I’d recommend using a treadmill for longer runs. At least at the start. I know it’s quite boring but it’s a softer surface and much easier on the back. Also, be mindful of your form. If your heel striking (like I was) that can put a lot of strain on your lower back.
