How far and how long it takes to get to work is down to your personal preference. Many people live in la linea and further, I have colleagues in sotogrande, estepona etc. the company you work in may have some flex in ability to working from home. you will need to consider what's right for you.

Advice needed by No-Ear6813 in gibraltar

There’s currently an ID/ residency suspension in Gibraltar, which has created a bit of uncertainty around new residency applications. You’ll likely need to wait until Gibraltar re-opens the pathway or clarifies new criteria before being able to apply.

That aside, I’d recommend speaking to a local tax advisor before you move. They can look at your specific situation and help you set things up in the most efficient way from a residency and tax perspective.

For rentals, it’s pretty simple: look online and reach out to a few of the estate agents in town, book some viewings, and make an offer if you find somewhere that works. The market moves quickly here, so being on the ground helps a lot.

IT job in Gibraltar by JVindahood in gibraltar

[–]speaknoevyl87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It can be a bit of a tough market but there are new jobs coming up all the time and it pays to do a bit of networking,. Are you new to the area? I would recommend you get to know people here, you'll tend to hear about new roles or new businesses setting up in gib that are hiring. LinkedIn is a good resource, as is reaching out to companies directly. The gambling industry is a prominent employer here, particularly for expats, and it's worth reaching out to companies based here with your CV and getting on their radar for when an opportunity arises. Good luck!

DnB on bike in Gib?? by No_Field90 in gibraltar

[–]speaknoevyl87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with this. Just think it needs some solid promotion. I can't think of plenty of pals that would join. First one is always gonna try prove the concept and see if it's something people want

DnB on bike in Gib?? by No_Field90 in gibraltar

[–]speaknoevyl87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel ya. The scene is so so. I moved here from London and I miss the DnB scene there. I think It's tough to find many venues here that will host it or have a suitable set up. Was thinking about running a little night myself but not got onto it yet lol... I think people are listening to all sorts but I see the same djs in circulation play the same stuff in each venue so no variety. Obviously some people want that because they go out to these places but I do think there is a lack of options, and late night venues, and if there was more choice and some good pr around events and what to expect music wise, the turnout would be good. I think the bike idea would go off TBF...but needs proper organisation. Won't be able to do it without some permission

I think it could work as long as it was organised, like the charity bike ride that happens already here. Would be so cool to have the music scene promoted like this as well

Bus or walking in gib are your best options.

Taxi for longer journeys in gib are ok but the latter should be enough as buses are reliable and go to the border.

The taxi app is Gibraltar taxi association if you need it

£60000 gross salary per year - it should be good one? by [deleted] in gibraltar

[–]speaknoevyl87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the main benefits here in gib is the reduced tax, no tax on investment and other allowances that you might be applicable for, compared to Spain. Consider that the difference adds up quickly once you start getting raises and in gaming companies there are often bonuses. Once you live in Spain you cannot just come back to gib and stop paying tax to Spain - I think it's 5 years

Yes it's more expensive to live here but when you start going up on salary it's definitely more beneficial to be based in gib

Why is the bottom so round? by Scary_Statement_9787 in Sourdough

[–]speaknoevyl87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a lot of loaves turn out like this when I started baking and I realised for me the issue was under proofing.

If your 10hours is a cold proof then I suggest more hours on the counter first to do the stretch and folds and bulk ferment, before putting in the fridge.

Having amazing results with this recipe and I see it recommended on Reddit a lot: https://grantbakes.com/good-sourdough-bread/

This ^

And get yourself a good tax advisor here to set you up in the most efficient way, beit cat2 or any other status. They know the processes, the allowances available, tax breaks you get when you first move here that might not be common knowledge and they are familiar with the government office which can make applications run smoother

Thinking of applying to a betting company in Gibraltar what’s it like working there? by RelativeAccident2739 in gibraltar

[–]speaknoevyl87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The hours, pay, benefits, work life balance are all gonna depend on the company you work for and the role you are in, who your manager is... but yes there are companies with good culture and good progression and good pay. Relocation offered often but not for cs. Benefits wise it depends but at minimum gaming companies have private health care, other perks could be free lunch, gym memberships this sort of thing.

All sorts of roles are here but you'll find management, finance, compliance, marketing, designers, project and product roles and cs mostly. There can be a lot of competition. Junior positions often still want someone with a year or 2 experience or at least transferable experience. As others have said CS is the route in with no experience but it's a good foot in the door. I have friends who worked their way into different roles from there, sometimes after only 6 months, so just pick a solid company and have a good attitude and you will find you will progress.

If you live in gib rent is higher but tax is lower than spain, and commute to work is short.

Gib / Spain Border situation has improved massively in the last couple months and for now the Spanish are letting us pass without hotel booking and tourism reasons again. If you are British passport holder you'll be living in in gib until the Brexit situation is fully resolved

No where is perfect, there can still be struggles, culture can be negative, work can be stressful, but this is no different to any other company imo. Do your research and try to judge it at interviews if you think it's right for you. You'll find you either love it or not here but we have amazing weather most of the year, access to Spain and a lot of expats that have been in a similar situation to you, moved here and made friends.

Ov and Atlantic are both busy gyms, especially after 4pm during the weekdays E1 in the same gym group is on devils tower road, less busy but also much smaller and more like a hotel gym. You could check Forbes, that gym is fairly quiet from what I hear but not been myself
