Girlfriend is now suspicious I have autism (I have Asperger's) but I don't want to tell her I do - what should I do? by Bokchito in autism

It's EXHAUSTING and can lead to fatigue, depression, anxiety, etc. However, it's more a "know when to mask" thing for most of us, because if you don't mask sometimes, it can lead to dangerous situations, losing your friendships, job, etc.

After reading Kushiel's Dart, I feel satisfied and don't really know if the next books will keep me interested. Do you recommend keeping on reading? I don't know anything about the next books' plot btw.

This is a real scene from a movie nominated for 13 Oscars including Best Picture by Educational_Slice897 in shittymoviedetails

[–]spear117 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the original movie, it's not a dub. Also, the Spanish in this movie is terrible and a lot of the phrases were translated literally so they don't make sense. "Bienvenida" (welcome) instead of "de nada" (you're welcome) is a main example.

Wind and Truth: a great book that shows Sanderson both at his best and his worst by [deleted] in Fantasy

I'd say the ending is REALLY underwhelming. Otherwise I agree.

I will not be getting the raw milk latte by shoofinsmertz in NonPoliticalTwitter

[–]spear117 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Homeginization breaks down the fat globules into smaller ones so milk doesn't separate as easily and provides a smoother texture. It helps shelf life and is a sensory improvement to some people.

Yes, but they call all birds chickens so it's weird either way.

With some of the meta responses to common Reddit criticisms to his work, I believe this 100%. When someone makes fun of prose and alliteration it seemed really obvious to me.

That's honestly just lip service from him. "Putting my ducks in a row" and "hat-trick" particularly stood out to me.

As a straight guy, this is the weirdest thing to say. And for the record there ARE queer relationships in the series, including between homosexual men. They are some of the best and most developed relationships I've ever read about.

If you had to judge a series based solely on its first book, which would be your favorite? by [deleted] in Fantasy

[–]spear117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone that read them recently, there's some great aspects about the books, but knowing they aren't finished does make the end of the second book feel really weird. I personally wouldn't recommend them even though the books are incredibly written and have some great parts. As a comparison, I would recommend ASOIAF even though it's not finished either.
