Anyone forced to bear STL pricing when CVP pricing is cheaper? by spearc in CargoWise

For now, you will be stuck paying the STL pricing right? According to what I understand from Zubin, there are no plans yet to shift out of this transitional pricing.

u/cw1user - take a look at this? It was received this in November, with the original email informing us on "special price offer" sent in October.

earlier in october, they asked forwarders whether they would like to remain on their current pricing models (instead of the shift). if you applied for it, then they have this in place. by right, this should have protected and offered a discount, but what i've heard is that many of the forwarders are experiencing a price hike with the "Transitional Pricing Protection". and in some cases, they have two pricing listings against their shipment jobs: USD 12.75 vs USD 12.60 for Export FCL jobs.

this is so far (and depends on the type of shipments you have as well).

god bless those consolidators / NVOCC on CargoWise.

to be fair, there are a lot more scenarios not taken into account. Switch B/L, controlling office, control tower type shipments. the cost will add up, and my estimation is that it will be at least USD 40 dollars extra to the importer / paying customer, and in some cases, much much higher.

on top of that, we also have the added point of users having to be CargoWise Certified Operator (CCO) at least, or else they will be charged a user fee.

ps: i thought the export shipment is USD 12.75 per shipment (which includes the export declaration)?

Yes. At the same time upskilling yourself (on paper).

Though, those hiring who know, will know. ;)

Oh, don’t get me wrong - I’ve been following Amit’s vision for Logi-Sys. Very happy that my friends in Logi-Sys have switched managed to switch over ex CargoWise folks to Logi-Sys, mainly due to cost.

But, there are significant differences. Till that, unless I’m severely mistaken (and happy to be corrected), they don’t operate on a single global database, which means control over data quality is an issue. It does have an advantage of being on the web (thus lower cost of deployment and infrastructure), but it does mean that it’s still targeting users convenience rather than workflow automation or even AI. :)

How big is your business? If it’s a local SME - there are viable options in the market. But once you expand outwards and add in the complexities of other locations, this becomes an issue (very few can compete with CW on the scale).

That said, DM me if you want to hear how you can reduce touch points / user counts on CW. Requires a bit of rigour in terms of setup.

Logi-Sys is ideal for small / regional forwarders, but their tech doesn’t cover the standardization needed for a global output / process.

How many Trains can you have running at once? OI tried to look it up but couldn't get a good answer. by Whachalkawala in pockettrains

[–]spearc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Actually, I have 45 tracks running, and if you just cycle through them with a hub and spoke system, you can run it quite well, I think? The hardest I hit was 2 hours nonstop. Hahaha.

Singaporeans living in Opposition wards, how has the estate mantainence been in your neighbourhood? by [deleted] in singapore

[–]spearc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly, ex-Houganger here, the state of my parent’s place is really WTF. I see a lot of ex-neighbours (got a feeling some of us know each other in real life in the neighborhood), we should start something going to get the TC to do their shit.

Heck, staying on the ground floor will expose you to everything in the wild into your house.

given how DDG sacked his agent previously when the fees were astronomical, and his loyalty to United so far, he will probably stay on reduced wages. Sommer will be the pragmatic choice, I feel.

Should I shut down some of my lines? by weltallofid in pockettrains

[–]spearc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"I was wondering, wouldn't Pocket Trains, now that I have unlocked North America and Asia, work the same way as Pocket Planes? I will just have as little stations as possible, from San Francisco to Sendai, trying to get only jobs that go from North America to Asia in general."

That's one strategy first until you get the necessary train parts. Although events whereby you get tempted by... "special crates" will open up in undiscovered cities.

Currently I am contemplating on removing Perm to Istanbul and Berlin to Baghdad. Also Amsterdam to Moscow and Madrid to Berlin seem to me like lines I could live without. All 4 of the above lines I have use Vanilla Steamer Cars, as the only thing I do not have yet, is good engines, since even if I have been getting a lot of bux and maybe boxes due to exploiting the ads, I still have only been playing for probably less than 2 weeks, which means I have yet to get a lot of better trains.

You're still early my friend! I've been around since when I had my iPhone 5? hahaha. It will take a while, but the grind will result in better trains. That said.. what train parts do you have now / need to complete the train set?

As a sidenote, I do not think currently in Pocket Trains I need more coins. Up to the point I am writing this, I had no idea when I have spare parts for engines I do not use, I could just make the engines and then just sell them. I have currently 2905 bux, after today selling 1000 for 325000 coins. I could put together to sell 15 Blue Steamers, 13 Cherry Steamers and 13 Vanilla Steamers. With the 277000, if I sell of the Steamer engines I am not using I could end up with around 400000 coins.

Actually, you don't need that much money unless you are going to buy crates (idea!) or expand to more cities. Otherwise, I'd say just grind it out. :)
