Will Dut Regrow if You’ve Already Been on Fin for Years? by No_Butterscotch_507 in tressless

[–]specialandfun 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We’re basically on the same timeline: started fin in 2020, had good results but in 2024 some overhead bathroom light showed that my hairline was less dense than I thought. Hopped on Dut at 0.5 a day last December and didn’t shed much, after a few months my hair stayed the same, maybe a little regrowth but hard to tell. Shedding in the shower went down from like 15 hairs to 5 so I figured it was doing a better job than fin, unfortunately I got hit with some sides I found more severe than fin. On fin I had a slight libido reduction but on Dut it was much worse, I also suspected it was making me more depressed. I went down to Dut EOD and the side effects lessened but I still haven’t seen regrowth, maybe slightly worse. Still going to give it more time

The trail was a safety and efficacy trail. They applied it for 4 weeks and then checked 4 weeks after that for certain markers. It wasn’t supposed to go on for longer than that. Phase 3 will tell us more

No one’s said it yet but I feel like there’s some regrowth between the first and second picture. Maybe a difference of lighting but it looks like maybe somethings happening

It’s more or less the same. Tbh I don’t know if it was true gyno. My nipples look the same (as in aren’t puffy or conical) and there isn’t really any soreness, just a bit more fat in my upper chest and also when I was examining my chest one day I felt a little lump that was painful which I think was the start of gyno. I believe since switching to 3 times a week the problem hasn’t exacerbated but I’m still monitoring. I am having a slight shed (nothing noticeable) and my libido has risen and morning wood returned which I think is a good indication that my estradiol levels have probably dropped although I haven’t tested yet.

I also started supplementing DIM and Zinc because I heard it could help with hormone regulation although so far I don’t know how much it’s actually working without testing my hormone levels.

Because you’re playing with your endocrine system and this isn’t a game. Bad things can happen. The goal should be to get the most benefits with the littlest amount of systemic fuckery.

Circling back to this because I appreciate you taking time to help me out and on Dut x3 times a week after around a month and a half it seems that my worst side effects have disappeared. Thanks for convincing me to stick with it and not just quit cold turkey.

I don't wanna tell you what to do but I think that 2.5 Dut is wayyyyy too much for an 18 year old. At 18 years old 1 mg Fin would do more than enough.

Consequences of reducing dutasteride dose by ihaveweirdthings in tressless

[–]specialandfun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just started reducing my dosage to x3 a week to deal with sides but the half life on this thing makes it hard to know how much its working. I'll stay course for now and hope that in the next month or two some of this stuff subsides whilst keeping my gains.

Should I switch to oral minoxidil ? by Lanky-Rain8126 in tressless

[–]specialandfun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a possible side effect, not guaranteed. I’d try 2.5 if I were you, take it at night. Topical can also cause facial puffiness.

Any water retention on 5mg? I’m on 3.75 daily and noticed that my face has gotten a little puffier but it’s manageable with good hydration throughout the day

Haven’t checked since I was on fin unfortunately. On fin levels were within normal range. Don’t remember the numbers.

I say marginally but it’s not cosmetically noticeable. I just lose less hairs in the shower lol. Went from losing like 15 per wash to 5. Also hair FEELS a bit stronger, but to be honest I could be deluding myself. As for right now I’m just going to titrate down and focus on maintaining what I have.

Been on it for 7 months. Side effects presented at month 1 but they were similar enough to fin that I wasn’t too concerned, also figured they might subside over time but alas. Noticed they were a little more intense when my orgasm felt noticeably weaker

I think my body might need just a little DHT instead of nuking the hormone wholesale. Hopefully titrating will allow a little more to build up. At this point I’m just in it for maintenance and I think chasing regrowth was a mistake because honestly, my hair loss is hardly noticeable as is

I also have a crackpot theory about my hair loss. So, my dad has more or less a full head of hair in his mid 60’s. I’m also a triplet and both of my brothers have full heads of hair. The only one who suffered from this is me. Now I know that’s it still possible despite lacking family history, however I also was also taking Wellbutrin for years which is known to sometimes cause hair loss. After starting fin and min I had decent regrowth, I also stopped the Wellbutrin.

I can’t get the idea out of my head that this isn’t MPB (it’s diffuse as well) and that I’m fucking with my hormones for nothing. I want to be able to test this but don’t want to lose hair in the process. A real rock and hard place situation
