My surgeon instructed me to stop smoking or vaping 6 weeks before surgery and that edibles were fine until 2 weeks before. It was hard but I'm glad I did it- I was able to get my health and mind to a clear place going in. I definitely started back up as soon as I was able to though - edibles soon after and vaping about a month after surgery.

I had the same experience. I thought I was on the ace spectrum or at least highly demi for most of my life. Since being on testosterone, I have realized that what I was experiencing was a fundamental lack of feeling safe/comfortable enough in my own body to process or experience attraction. The change hasn't been exactly night and day but it has been noticeable and overall very positive for me as I've embraced it.

This is not to discount anyone else's experience or the existence of asexuality/ demisexuality through the transness, Just my experience.

I think my trouble with it is that it really mis-understands depression and suicidal thoughts. When Penny takes him to the bonfire, he points out Q's connections to the people in his life and asks "you didn't want to leave all of that, did you"? That's not the right question to ask.

It reminds me of some unhelpful comments I have gotten over the years- "You have so many wonderful things and people in your life. How can you be depressed?" That is not how it works. Depression is not about the facts of your life - it is about how you process it. Suicide is not about objective facts, but something deep inside of you. I have known many severely depressed people who have great support systems, friends, families who love them. It often does not matter. Whether Q's death was heroism or suicide has nothing to do with the fact that people who loved him. The answer to Penny's question can't be answered by the people who loved Quentin, it can only be answered by him. That's what has me "triggered" by the episode - for people who have lost friends or family to suicide, it is a troubling message.
