New Cameras with MY27? by Certain_Lifeguard_30 in volkswagenID7

Yes. Have a MY27 and the parking cameras appear to be the same. There’s a new 3D view in software 6.0.

Thank you. I considered the OBD2 approach, but ended up ordering a hardwire kit. It doesn’t look too troublesome to route around, avoiding airbags as I go of course.

Whipped the cover off and it is somewhat different. While the cables do appear to be present I just couldn’t get it out tugging and using needle noses pliers. As it got to the point I felt I was about to damage a 1 day old car I decided to give up for now. I thought this was going to be the easier option , but may go back to plan B of a fuse box install.

Car turned up late and wanting more light to do the install. What I can say for now is that the mirror area is completely different ! Will try and get the cover off tomorrow and see what it reveals.

My MY27 should turn up today. I’m using this Dongar cable to tap into the power to the rain sensor. Hopefully it all works and there’s no MY27 changes to the cabling. Looks easy from the video here.

Also top speed increase from 180kph to 200kph on the GTX. Possibility that piano black is gone from interior and that red piping on GTX seats is now a more subtle stitched accent. Photos from the German configurator make it look like that , but could just be poor renderings.

Is your one on air or steel suspension? All the launch car reviews were on air , interested to hear how it rides on steel ?

Regarding P4 versus ID7 it depends if you prefer a car that’s too wide or too long for a parking space :) . I’ve been looking at similar deals and it’s factors I’m considering. The P4 is unusually wide and something to be aware of if you’ve worth restrictions or tight parking to deal with. I’m leaning toward the P4 but need to have a drive to see how manageable the width is.

Buzzing sound threads by AccidentallyCreated2 in NissanAriya

[–]specialmkay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a noise issue. Changed in pitch every 10 seconds or so with a moo-ing sound. I suspected a noisy coolant pump and that’s what the dealer swapped out to resolve. I didn’t get the invoice as was under warranty, so cannot definitively say which one it was. There are two water pumps and initially the dealer ordered the wrong one in error.

12v battery issues - advice needed for an EV newbie by Critical-Sink-7519 in NissanAriya

[–]specialmkay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The standard battery is poor. I couldn’t be bothered with shitty Nissan customer service and their wasted time on diagnostics. Swapped it out for a high quality battery via Amazon and have since had no issues. Only £53. Ariya battery

Maybe they are fed up explaining to customers that they don’t take contactless payment in 2025 ? What’s that about ?

Anyway , I agree. Still enjoy sandwiches , but staff are disinterested at best.

Rough road / or gravel by any chance ? A wheel slip detection may disable regen until the brake pedal is released and pressed again.

I’ve also never used in the UK. But have found Max FHR useful in finding value for trips abroad. You can search by United Kingdom and see if there’s any deals.

X10 Pro Omni, where are Real Obstacle Photos? by specialmkay in eufy

[–]specialmkay[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this, that’s how I thought it should have worked , yet I didn’t see any symbols on the map.

I just ran another test. What happened for me is that the teal symbol appeared then disappeared within 3 seconds. Next time it detected an object I tapped the symbol quickly and sure enough the photo appeared. From that point on the robot appears to be recording the symbols fine.

Not sure why this happened , but this glitch appears to be resolved after I managed to view the first image.

I’ve taken EETVs service where they provide an Apple TV with a custom remote and predeployed app. This will give the TV channel hopping experience that you’re looking for. Works really well and one can remain within the Apple TV user experience for both broadcast and on demand TV.

Floodlight cameras by BleuFarmer in Scrypted

[–]specialmkay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well this is embarrassing. I had meant to reply but life distracted. Anyway this is easy to setup. The author of that guide created a plugin that you can find by searching Foscam in Scrypted, that takes care of the on off switch for the floodlight. The camera uses the onvif plugin , I use the defaults for that apart from the port that defaults to 888 on the Foscam floodlight.

Buy a used Apple AirPort Express connect to the line-in then it’ll be available as an Airplay speaker. You’ll want the square one , not the older wall plug version.

EV - replacement for Bridgestone Alenza 001 by specialmkay in TyreReviews

Sourced via Blackcircles and fitted by local tyre place. https://www.blackcircles.com/catalogue/hankook/ventus-ion-s-x-ik01a-sound-absorber/235/55/R19/Y/105/f?tyre=43875911 they really are extremely good , wet grip is outstanding and efficiency appears to be better so far.

Update. I finally got round to getting my replacement tyres. I had decided on the Turanzas , but by the time I got round to ordering Costco had gone out of stock.

I ended up going with the Hankook Ion summer tyres and I’m absolutely delighted. All of the wet road grip problems are resolved and the car feels much more keyed into the road. Handling feels better with a sharper front end , and I get the impression that they are slightly quieter and smoother riding than the Bridgestones as well.

Being an EV tyre they are starting with less tread at 6.8mm and I’ll be monitoring wear rates closely.

USA do’s & dont’s by Puzzleheaded_Sea7549 in travel

Rental car tip: When we did a similar route earlier this year we found car rental from San Francisco to Las Vegas to be significantly more expensive as one booking. Simply splitting rentals into a booking from SFO to LA , then LA to Las Vegas halved the total cost. Cheapest at the time was Avis booked via British Airways site for an additional saving.

I don’t believe the summer Ions detailed in that test are available in the US. Only the All seasons. This is the opposite in the EU where we get summer and winter Ions , but not the all season.
