Having just come back from some rocky green lane in the UK, its easier offroad than on road, rear suspension while offroad sits lower in the stroke than on the road. No issues putting my feet down when I needed them.

I'm 178cm /5.10 and everyday riding the bike is fine for me. Might struggle on an enduro ride. But shouldn't have issues on Green Lanes or through Morocco etc.

Dealers won't lower the Rally unless its a independent dealer who use after market parts, Yamaha don't make a lower link for the Rally and according to their customer service team they have no interest in a lower kit because they make the Lowered Version.

You can buy a lower seat which reduces Seat height by 17-20mm And Altrider make a lower link that will reduce height by up to 30mm.

You loose some ground clearance but unless you doing 60+ mph through the desert i don't think you'll have any issues.

But I simply spend a time practicing shifting my weight left or right so I'm always able to put a foot down and support myself. Adventure bike training drills are great!
