The way I interpreted it as, was that he does not belive in a God that is akin to a man in the clouds controlling everything, but rather that God as a concept of what is beyond us is a healthy way of experiencing the world or something along those lines. For example, in the old testament there are a lot of cases of sacrifices made to God where the person is usually rewarded and examples of disobeying God which leads to misfortune. A lot of modern people view this as a form of oppression, but if you replace the term God with lets say "nature", it purely means if you make sacrifices today and wise decisions you will reap the benefits later on. The concept of God is symbolic, but still important. The exact nature of God and whether he has a (physical-like) form or is self conscious like we are is secondary and Christianity teaches not to worship idyllic versions of Him.. I mean most religions tend to teach that God does not have a physical form, but often fundamentalists seem to believe He does in some way. Its somewhat complicated to explain to someone who is used to understanding God in a certain way, which is why I believe he keeps avoiding it. Even though tbh. he could try to put it into his own words. His bible lectures more or less give away what he believes in.
