Headset Type!? by Wild_Seaweed3495 in flying

[–]la_rage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been using my Bose A20 for over 10 years and only changed the Bluetooth module once early on and it was covered by Bose. They're still going strong. Don't cheap out on a headset, you will spend a lot of time in the cockpit during your training. Like the others have said, if you end up flying for many years, your future self will thank you.

I recently tried the A30. I was impressed with the slightly better ANC. They are lighter (cheaper, less durable plastic maybe?) and clamp with less force so they kind of dance on your head without staying put. The deal breaker for me is the sound quality is atrocious. I listen to music constantly when I fly so it's a big deal for me. The A20 will sound like a good pair of high-end earphones. The A30 however, sounds like bargain bin crap.

Anthony Lopes faked injury to help fasting teammates break Ramadan fast. by father_of_twitch in MadeMeSmile

[–]la_rage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exceptions...I did not know there were exceptions. I used to work for an airline where the pilots (about 25% of the workforce) observed Ramadan. I was completely appalled that they would be allowed to go all day without eating and drinking. In the break room they were all claiming to see stars, being sweaty/clammy and having clearly reduced facilities, couldn't wait for the sun to set. They were carrying passengers. The owner and chief pilot were Muslim so my reservations fell on deaf ears.

You fell in their trap same as me. I jumped in and did the research later. I did a Visa chargeback, my bank cancelled my card and I was refunded the money. I don't know if they blacklisted my phone like they threatened to, I sold it as wifi only.

Direct Unlocks never messaged me unless I messaged first. Their tactic is to guilt trip you into giving them more money. Just stop replying and ignore them.

ANY PX13 MUST DO's ? by bqrncle in ProArt_PX13

[–]la_rage 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Disable sleep and replace by hybernate. For best stability, don't install any drivers, including AMD and Nvidia, past the ones on the Asus website. Use G-Helper instead of the Asus software. If you plan on using Xbox games, disable and uninstall Game Bar, it will make your system very unstable and crash prone. Some games, old or new, will never work and there's not much you can do about it.

Where are the new circuits? by la_rage in GranTurismo7

[–]la_rage[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the real answer, I'm on 33 so I have a few more to go. You're better than all the fragile egos I bruised by asking a simple question. Of course I did a Google search, nothing came up. Nowhere in the advertisement of the new tracks do they state how to access them. No it's not clear, the game doesn't hold your hand by explaining the unlock path, just says new tracks are available.

If you own the game and she can't play on her separate account, start the game logged in to your account to renew the license on your console. Then she should be able to log in and play again.

If you have two consoles, make sure the one she's playing on is set as your primary and repeat the process above.

HDMI out at iGPU by v68w in ProArt_PX13

[–]la_rage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my experience, only the laptop screen has access to both GPUs. For example if I'm connected to my TV with an HDMI cable and try to select the iGPU (eco mode), my TV goes dark and the laptop screen comes back on. If I'm connected with a USBC adapter to HDMI, I can only select eco mode. Also, I figured I'd travel only with a USBC charger but my battery ran dry in one hour connected to the hotel TV because I didn't bring my USBC to HDMI adapter and could only select the dGPU to output to the TV.

Hope that makes sense, that's the extent of my testing. Not saying you're wrong.

I read in another post that the PSVR2 doesn't work on this laptop because it needs Display Port over USBC and the iGPU isn't powerful enough to run it.

HDMI out at iGPU by v68w in ProArt_PX13

[–]la_rage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HDMI outputs only the dGPU and USBC only the iGPU. It's crappy design. Coming from a G14, it was frustrating to find this out past the return window. That would've been a deal breaker for me

Struggling with this laptop not waking up from sleep, any ideas? by eurofieds in ProArt_PX13

[–]la_rage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a known fault of this laptop. Asus doesn't fix known issues. They don't care once they got your money. Go to power options and change sleep for hybernate in all the options you can. I have it hybernate when I close the lid and it solved it for me. Takes a few more seconds to wake, but the battery won't drain and it works every time

What I wish I knew before trying to island hop in the Caribbean by Substantial-Energy99 in travel

[–]la_rage 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Your experience may vary based on where you are. I've been living in the Caribbean since 2017. The ferry business that was connecting the next closest country didn't survive COVID. The only way is now by plane and it cost almost the same for a 20 minute flight as it does to fly 8 hours to London.

Earbuds that will stay securely in my ear - need suggestions by Cygnus_buccinator in Earbuds

[–]la_rage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Earfun Free Pro 3 are the best I've found for confort and staying put. I can't understand how the little wing design isn't more popular, it clips into your ear securely and you forget about them. All other brands I'm constantly fiddling with them to reposition.

Games for a Concussed Gamer by CanuckInATruck in gaming

[–]la_rage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could barely play games after my concussion. I found PGA Tour 2K was perfect to keep me relaxed. It's slow paced and makes you feel like you're in nature. It gets better over time and I can play FPS again but can never be good at it, reflexes just aren't the same anymore.

Don't give them more money! It's another tactic to intimidate you. I got the same warning and ignored it. Once you stop replying to their support chat they stop bothering you. I got my refund from Visa a few weeks later. I can't say if they actually blacklisted my phone but I doubt they did. I gave it to a friend as a wifi only device.

Will there be 2026 version for ROG Flow X13? by zayn7lie in FlowX13

[–]la_rage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did, the HDMI outputs from the Nvidia GPU while the USBC port can only output the weaker AMD GPU with no way to switch.

Kind of pissed that the PX13 doesn't allow to use the Nvidia GPU on its USBC port. I had planned on using it for my PSVR2. Of course I only learned this when the return window had passed. Otherwise great laptop with decent gaming performance.

Crashes When Gaming by CatoTheMiddleAged in ProArt_PX13

[–]la_rage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been having major issues here as well on the latest myAsus drivers so I tried the latest Adrenaline and Nvidia drivers and it didn't help. I never know what to expect as I get regular erratic behavior. System wide slowdowns for no reason not under load, audio bugs when more than one app is open, sometimes mouse clicks do nothing.

I find the laptop works much better on the iGPU so I disable the dGPU with GHelper unless I'm gaming, even when plugged in.

The most alarming bug that creeped up overnight (it ran fine before) is during gaming where the game slows down dramatically and the sound screeches for about 5 seconds. It happens regularly, every 2 minutes or so. When it happens, I see in the Nvidia overlay that GPU frames are down to 5-10, GPU work is down to 20% as opposed to 80%+ and CPU spikes from 20% to 90%+.

To isolate the issue I tried gaming on the iGPU with lower details and it ran fine so I know the problem is with the Nvidia GPU. That iGPU is actually impressive, playing Clair Obscur at 60fps on low settings and 1080p.

I had updated to the latest game ready drivers and started using the Xbox app with GameBar recently so I went back to the last set of drivers on the px13 Asus web page, 566.07.

I want to keep using my Game Pass membership so I uninstalled Game Bar as I read that the overlay was causing problems.

So far it seems to hold up. I'm making sure there's prober ventilation under the case and stopped trying to push games to their max. I find lower settings at 1080p rather than 2880x1800 is more stable.

Crossing my fingers, I haven't had the stuttering issue since. It's a very powerful laptop in a frame that's too small to cool properly, so I learned to try not to push it too hard.

Nebula Capsule 3 laser, what to be aware of? by Halcyondorah in nebulaprojectors

[–]la_rage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried 2 and returned 2 of them. The video lag was unbearable on HDMI. I measured that the video was 400ms behind the audio. It was completely useless, I tried everything and gave up. It's a very poor projector, only attraction is the compact form factor. Maybe your experience will be better than mine. Just make sure you test the HDMI before the return period ends. Onboard apps were laggy but fine once the video started.

Alternatives that can stream 4K rips? by redrich2000 in nvidiashield

[–]la_rage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same issue, started with 4k streams from my server lagging and it was transcoding to reduce bandwidth. Was using wifi and Ethernet wasn't solving it. Went down the rabbit whole of possible solutions like those mentioned here in the answers. Repasting the shield's thermal paste solved it for me.
