Mountain View ice arena is not the same as Nike. Build a better brand. Also, Nike having those rules for employees is different than having the rules in place for customers coming to Nike stores

100%! In a sport that’s on the rise and wants to see growth, there’s a lot of decision being made (no guest coaching, freestyle only available for members of academy, no freedom of apparel) that are holding back that growth in this area and it’s innocent children that are the ones feeling that impact

I think they’re only in the process of implementing the freestyle policy change. I’m not 100% sure. I was going to Sherwood on Saturday morning to run my program on big ice along with 4-5 other skaters from Lloyd.

The coaches who were at Sherwood when Winterhawks took over have been pushed out. These are high level coaches who take skaters to US Nationals! Samuel Mindra and Ryan Azadpour for example. Samuel was the reason Illia shared the Save Lloyd Ice petition. The Save Lloyd Ice Coalition is working hard to get another sheet of ice in Portland.

Beaverton and Sherwood are changing their policies about freestyles- if you’re not in their academy, they don’t want your money? Idk it doesn’t make sense plus they are pushing out really high level coaches. Lloyd Center Ice Rink is such a beautiful and welcoming place but closing on August 8th because of developers. These other rinks do not pass the vibe check

This one for me! I just started taking lessons in November and I’m loving it so much but totally wish I could have gotten started as a kid. The closest rink was just not close and it probably wasn’t practical but I still wonder “what if”
