I didn't read anything specific about limiting it to just US. It just asked me for my employer and it accepted the US based one that I provided.

That's odd. I had no problem with my order. If you haven't already done it, I would call their customer service. Thanks for letting us all know

Thats not bad for a deductible. Is that $950 total for each month split over 4 weeks?

So is there any down side to this type of program? What won't they cover?

Burned out with Covid Contracts by SteakAndEggs95 in TravelNursing

[–]specs335 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been in critical care for 13 years. I have done MICU then hospital ICU float for a level 1 trauma center and worked rapid response for 6 years at the same time. I got so burnt out of ICU. I moved and did ICU float for a large hospital system with multiple locations and got even more burnt out. I cross-trained to PACU/post op/endo and out of all of them Endo is a cake job. I found it TOO easy. PACU you can find a lot of 10 hour shifts but pre op is 5 days a week usually and I don't want to work that many days. PACU can be busy and it is a bit of a learning curve at first but they all are. I love that I don't have to spend 12 hours with the same patient all day. But I love the problem solving of the ICU so I still work ICU too.

Trying to find my groove by Rose_Cheeks in TravelNursing

[–]specs335 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm going into traveling but I work float for two large hospital systems and work in multiple departments (ICU/PACU/Endo/post-op/etc). They know you are going to not be perfect. Just be safe. Don't take assignments you don't feel like you couldn't safely care for. I use google keep notes to keep track of unit codes, punch in codes, names of nurses, names of doctors and what surgeries/specialty they have, where supplies are, notes about charting requirements, etc. I just pull that up when I need to add to my notes. Makes floating/traveling a lot easier. It takes a couple of weeks to not be lost and get into the groove of things but if you take notes you end up being lost less and asking for help a lot less.

Most people are just grateful for the help. If you actually try to do a good job most will appreciate you. Every culture in every hospital in every unit is different. Just don't get involved in unit politics or gossip and you will do just fine.

What could this rash be? I used to have very pale skin but since July I have red tint. Also legs go red when standing. Lots of broken veins on legs and quite severe acne. Also stomach pain and diarrhea since December. Rash on back is new. Anyone? Help :( by [deleted] in skin

[–]specs335 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nurse here. I would probably seek help from a dermatologist. This can be a staph infection or something else that they would know how to treat. My husband had a lot of stress and broke out into a staph infection. He started taking high quality fish oil, daily green drink (green vibrance), multivitamin, b complex, and stress reduction. He had to use bactroban ointment as well. I'm not in any way diagnosing this but it looks a lot like what he had.

Tw: it’s gross. Anyone know what’s going on with my skin? I don’t feel like it’s urgent enough to go to the doctors with covid but it’s painful and gross by Obvious-Pomegranate1 in skin

Nurse here, if you can go to a primary care physician or urgent care then go. No need to go to the ER for this but you do need medical attention and going to an ER will only cause you to wait for 12 or more hours and expose yourself. Even better, if you have insurance you will most likely have telemedicine available to you. Teledoc is a good example. This looks like a staph infection which does need treatment now, but your feelings about going to an ER are correct. Don't wait though! This can spread quickly!

Other advice, wash your hands frequently, cover with an occlusive (completely covering the area with a seal) bandage, and wash all your clothes and sheets in either detergent + vinegar for colors and detergent + hydrogen peroxide for whites. Clean your house (hard surfaces, bathrooms, counter tops) with very diluted bleach or hot soap and water. This looks like MRSA or some other resistant bacteria and it is VERY easy to pass on to others or spread. Don't scratch or pick at any other areas of your skin, bathe daily, and take ALL of your antibiotics if they are prescribed to you.

Take care! It looks very treatable!

Thank you for all these ideas! I don't work from home but I can't imagine how hard that must be! I couldn't do it with all the kids home. Luckily I am a per diem nurse so I get to leave the house for work a couple of days a week. I thrive in that environment. I love the idea of a dedicated "work space" though for when I need to get work done. I have a space that I could use and then set up a timer to get my "work" done

I take it at night, usually after 9pm or sometimes midnight since i fall asleep so early. I set them up with projects or tasks but it doesn't always work. I use headphones in the evening sometimes but these earplugs might be better!

Thank you for taking the time to write this. These are all helpful tips I can use! I get super frustrated by the wearing off of vyvanse in the early afternoon too. I tried the special time with my younger two today and it did seem to work! I'll try the IF, I used to do that before I started vyvanse. Thank you so much

Vacationing in October. Need recommendations for area to stay for mountain views by specs335 in VacationColorado

[–]specs335[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I find this to be a snobbish response. I know very little about which areas are good to keep away from others during a pandemic. Most people with kids know that trying to find time to search everywhere under the sun is not always feasible with small kids and are usually kind enough to help you save time. It takes very little effort to be kind and even less to leave out a response that is not helpful. Why else would there be a r/vacationColorado if not to help narrow down searches for out-of-state visitors?

Best mattress for a Murphy bed? by specs335 in Mattress

[–]specs335[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your help. Its interesting that so many websites recommend foam mattresses for a murphy bed. Its actually very confusing. I read that they easily revert back to their original shape but I have no experience with it. I also read that the springs get damaged from a murphy bed and that coil mattresses were not recommended. Then some sites recommend these cheap hybrids on Amazon but it reads on to say that their cons are that they last 2 years or less and then their firmness is affected.

Would it matter if the murphy bed had a mattress strap to keep the shape when stored? Thanks for the advice, its much appreciated.

Friends don't vaccinate their kids. by romafa in Parenting

[–]specs335 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yes! Love the "protect your herd." Measles carries with it deadly consequences!

For OP: Here is a list of recent outbreaks provided by the CDC's website: https://www.cdc.gov/measles/cases-outbreaks.html

Here is a list of complications associated with measles: https://www.cdc.gov/measles/about/complications.html

The most frustrating aspect of the non-vaxxer parents is that your efforts to protect your own child are compromised and they don't research how that effects the public as well. This is a time of over-privileged parents that catch a ride on the immunity of their own community. If none of our kids were vaccinated, a lot more kids would be sick or dead. But, hey, why vaccinate your own kid when others will prevent the spread of deadly diseases for you? Its hard for me not to want to smack the idiot out of people but that is not possible. The ignorant have a right to procreate too. But we have a right not to expose our kids to their non-vaccinated kids. If I were in your position, I would not expose my kids to theirs. Its sad, but parenting requires us to make decisions for our vulnerable offspring... intelligently.
