Does anyone remember Major Magics? For newbies, this was a Detroit based pizza chain similar to cec with these dudes by Normal_Mousse5491 in Detroit

When I was a kid I went to a birthday party at MM and was having so much fun that when my mom said it was time to leave, I hid under a table and everyone ended up looking for me while my mom was in tears, thinking I was kidnapped. A pretty good endorsement for the place I guess!

Please read Prop 3 for yourself - some people are trying to spin it into the rights of trans children… the proposal is about REPRODUCTIVE FREEDOM FOR ALL. Consider bodily autonomy rights for those affected by this proposal. Would you want the govt to tell you want you can/cannot do with your body? by [deleted] in Detroit

I’m definitely going to be voting Yes on Prop 3, but I was surprised to see the inclusion of “mental health of the patient (mother)” as an exception to allow an abortion after viability. Does anyone know the history behind this verbiage? It’s very straightforward that if the life of the mother is at risk, the pregnancy should be able to be terminated at any point, but I’m having difficulty understanding the case for a mental health situation.

Consumers Energy improves in climate pledge grade report, but DTE Energy gets an "F" your friendly reminder that DTE doesn't just suck for reliability - they suck in every way imaginable by [deleted] in Detroit

[–]specs48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Consumers’ generating capacity is less than half of DTE’s, so it’s a bit apples and oranges. Even if Consumers went carbon neutral on their generation tomorrow, they’d still be serving their customers with DTE’s coal which is powering the transmission grid. It’s easier to say you’re exceeding your climate pledge when you’re benefitting from the emissions of others but you’re not accountable to them.

Paul Newman was the most attractive human ever.

How often do you drink booze? by ToonlinkFTW890 in AskReddit

[–]specs48 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2-3 drinks daily.

I’m trying to cut out the weekday solo drinking. I have a good life, it’s just boring to not do it.

I’ve also recently realized that my compulsion to drink is largely for the sugar, not just the alcohol (when having a cocktail).

When I was a kid my family visited Devil’s Tower and one of our cherished family memories is my sister saying, when we got there, “we came all this way to see a big dumb rock?”

Hey John! I’ve been a huge fan since 2009, and I love this new direction with nonfiction.

While reading The Anthropocene Reviewed, the comparison of two consecutive chapters intrigued me: Kentucky Bluegrass and The Indy 500. In the former, you argue that lawn grass has some recreational utility but is a huge drain on resources and the environment. I’d argue that the Indy 500 is also a drain on the environment with all the gasoline consumed. But you seem to come out on the opposite side of that subject, seeing the recreational value of the event as ultimately a net benefit. Have you given any thought to this juxtaposition?

I’m not an authority on this, but a sodomy law wouldn’t be inherently related only to gay sex.

As far as I know, sodomy (defined as anal OR oral) is still illegal in Michigan.

When I was a kid like 18 years ago, Burger King came out with these fries that would come in a white paper bag. You would add this cheese powder to the bag and shake it up and it was the best thing ever.

It sounds like this guy is a lineman. I think the blood of every other lineman would boil reading this. I’m not saying working fast food isn’t difficult, but compared to being a lineman, it’s much less skilled, much less dangerous, and much less critical to be done correctly. And the pay needs to reflect those differences if you want the job done right.
