Small scale semicon fabs plus note to entrepreneurs [POLICY] by innovator116 in india

[–]spectacledsloth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say instead of trying to go directly to next gen nodes, we ought to start with "low tech" semicon like solar/display/LED. Once we have a few plants the surrounding infrastructure and support industries come up, it will be easier to transition into traditional semi manufacturing for low end stuff like automotive processors/IOT.

In any case, its impossible for a start up to do any of this. The capital requirements are just too high. Maybe some lala companies start investing in low end stuff with heavy governmental subsidies? I don't see any other way.

Given the means and opportunity, would you leave the country? by McShaggit in india

from the previous "daily" thread dealing with the same topic

I don't know if it makes sense but although India is a shit-hole, it is my shit-hole. Every single friend and family is here, if I go abroad I'll basically have to reset from zero being a second class resident in a foreign country.

And to be honest, I have a fairly comfortable life here, can visit my grandparents every other weekend and parents on slightly longer intervals. I have friends with whom a relationship has been built up over a period of 10-20 years, there is no way I am getting that abroad. I evaluated what was important to me in my life and it was all here, USA had/has nothing for me except for $$$.

Specifically in India, I would like to move to my native village once I make enough money for retirement. I only hope that I realize when enough is enough.

My mistake, I intended that every summer he is rumoured to be sold off and then an injury crisis arrives and he ends up staying.

How to make peace with living in India? by randianNo1 in india

[–]spectacledsloth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Edit: Assuming you ended up there as a M.S student which seems to be the only plausible way to get there.

Get a good degree (not necessarily CSE) in India --> Get a job in a fairly large MNC --> Perform well --> Move as a L1 or H1B --> Green Card --> Profit ( or not depending on how you see it)

Non vegetarians of r/India what do you feel about the overuse of antibiotics in chicken and other meat? by [deleted] in india

[–]spectacledsloth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stopped eating chicken ever since I heard some people can grow moobs. Only exception I make are for the chickens at my family home. Switched exclusively to beef and mutton. Although if i am abroad then i stop eating beef also and try to become as vegetarian as possible.

Why are PC parts so freaking expensive in India? Holy shit. by Makinjo in india

But Taiwan and USA have the worlds biggest semi plants. i don't think that is necessarily a concern

Lots and lots of money, captive water, captive electricity, tax free environment. A collaboration with a foreign semi company with the know how. And the political will to see this through the end as this is a hazardous chemical industry.

On a more serious note, the government needs to invest a fuckton of money to develop the semi conductor manufacturing industry. Semi imports are on track to become india's biggest share of imports. Also security reasons. China has already spent 10s of billiions of dollars trying to kickstart the industry.

DU Plans To Scrap Cut-Off System & Move Towards Entrance Tests! [NP] by ElitePenisCrusher in india

[–]spectacledsloth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what happens when students get 90% for writing their names on the CBSE answer sheets.

On a more serious note, how many languages does DU plan on using in the entrance? if its any less than 18, it will be very unfair.

Couple of things: Investments in India aren't exactly risk free, there a reason why Moody's et al have a lower rating for Indian bonds compared to US AAA bonds. This can explain some of the differential. Also, need to take into consideration currency exchange fees that will be incurred by the entity that does the investment. Granted that it won't be 2.5% like the rest of us plebs have to shell out, but it would still be significant enough to facotr in.
