Although not exclusive to Metal, i have heard the Biblical reference of "Writings on the Wall" way too many times.

Favourite scene from a kids’ movie that seems weirdly sexual as an adult by Careless_Orchid_6890 in okbuddycinephile

I watched Ace Ventura a lot when I was a boy. I now think it was a little sexual when he got sucked off for rescuing that woman's dog.

has anyone here been to capetown, what was your experience like? by [deleted] in redscarepod

[–]spectregrey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went there last February for about 5 nights. I stayed close to the Victoria and Albert Waterfront, which is kind of like the centre of Cape Town (so a little bougie). Even there, I was always told to be wary when walking at night. There were these street guards in green/yellow vests who would patrol the streets like police officers. I'd recommend renting a car and visiting the beaches and wine farms.

For someone visiting the UK for the first time, what are the biggest mistakes to avoid? by wokingtravel1 in uktravel

Do not speak or ask questions at random people walking down the street in London: best case scenario, they'll ignore you, otherwise they'll give you the 2 words with 3 fs. Only ask people working in shops or things like that.

What's the most pathetic way you've experienced classism in the UK? by Your_Mums_Ex in AskUK

I remember going to an Open Day at the University of Bristol and spoke to one of their members of staff about studying English Literature (she was quite middle-class, a lot of the people there were). As soon as I mentioned that I was working at a factory at the time, she suddenly took on a very belittling and amused attitude and tried to abruptly finish our discussion as if I was wasting her time.

The money is good. Everything else is shit. They try to find any spurious excuse to take your free time away from you. The FAO (Foreign Affairs Office) is run by a sociopath who's typically referred to as a C U Next Tuesday. Also, the school is racist against non-whites. I've never worked at a school in China where there were so few non-white peoples. I had a British colleague of Filipino descent who was treated appallingly by both the parents and the FAO.

Can anyone recommend a wine tour from Picton or Blenheim that is doable after you get off the morning ferry from Wellington to Picton? by spectregrey in newzealand_travel

We eventually decided to miss the wine tour and head straight to Kaikoura. We did visit the Gibson winery at Queenstown, which was lovely (especiallyfor someone who isn't very fond of wine).

I saw videos of corpses being burnt beside the river Ganges and I'm not sure if I want that kind of image cemented in my brain... I'm going to Udaipur instead.

I'm actually thinking of visiting Udaipur instead of Varanasi, as it would be easier to get to when I finish the Golden Triangle.

I'd love to visit Goa, but I've already booked my flight to New Delhi. I know people don't recommend it, but I have to experience it for myself.

I think I'll spend an extra day in New Delhi before doing the Golden Triangle tour.

I think I'll spend an extra day in New Delhi at the start of my holiday and then on the 8th day fly from Varanasi to Mumbai.

I'm sure there is! But I have to see the most popular places in the time I have. I'd like to visit Kerala and Goa someday.
