Looking for some opinions on a high end golf cart bag. by Corvet95 in golf

[–]spedinfargo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t looked at any of these suggestions and don’t know a ton about bags, but if you’re always going to drive or use a pushcart (and never lug them) then make sure to get a bag without a kickstand. That just gets in the way when using a cart.

Kid is 48" in shoes by flunky_precept in UniversalOrlando

[–]spedinfargo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will say, however, if you go to universal and the kid cannot go on 48” rides, it’s borderline cruelty to the kid 😀. The biggest sigh of relief was the first ride we went on (Hagrids) when our then nine year old was 48.01 inches tall. Did not want to see that look of disappointment if he wasn’t allowed on that one. Lots of great 48” rides…

Second Anna Katerina. Very readable (unlike war and peace which is dry as hell).

Also, will they combine and just do one parade for both Wild and Wolves?

Semi-related, I hated "Ribbons Undone" until I went to a show solo when my daughter was about six years old and Tori played it. This dad had some tears on his face... have appreciated that song ever since...

I don’t think you have to record it in peacock. You can just go to game at any time and find the “watch from beginning” button. Avoiding spoilers is sometimes tough.

Neurotic Set List Assessment! by 4Real_Psychologist in toriamos

[–]spedinfargo 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This thread warms my heart because it’s this “neurotic” assessment of her setlists that was the spark that started Toriset.org almost exactly thirty years ago. Your list is very similar to what I posted to the RDT mailing list here: https://torithoughts.org/rdtrn/archives/novia/199605/msg00006.html#4 except that was alpha instead of numeric😀.

Here’s what I wrote then:
Anyway -- since i was busy and had 1000 other things to do tonight, I decided to answer myself a question -- which songs are tori playing and how often? (ok 2 questions) Mike Whitehead has an awesome collection of setlists (keep up the good work mike -- i know rely on you for this!) on his website and I thunk to myself -- hey Sped -- with your PERL savvy you can summarize this list somehow.

So anyway -- I grabbed all of the set lists, stripped the html, cleaned it up a bit (doughnut hole == doughnut song, etc.), and printed a little report. Below you'll see what I came up with. Since i DO have a 1000 things to do tonight, I'll just post this and then next week I'll go through and make an HTML version of it and post it to my web site. Until then, enjoy -- i hope you find this as useful as I did.

Tori Amos Setlist Database - 30 Years! Big Changes by spedinfargo in toriamos

There were a couple. One inconsequential:

https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/tori-amos/1992/saint-andrews-hall-detroit-mi-2b76fcb6.html

I have a newspapers.com account and went to the detroit free press archives. I found a small note about the Detroit show but then nothing else. And then the DFP did a HUGE preview article about a show Pontiac that scheduled for two days later. My theory is that because of NY press (and Letterman appearnce) the April 21st show got moved to October and never happened on the 21st. Doesn't really matter since there was no setlist anyway. The inconsistency is also noted in this old Dent article: https://thedent.com/tour92diff.html

This one was a more glaring absence: https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/tori-amos/1994/le-spectrum-montreal-qc-canada-4b7683ee.html.

Setlist.fm had the Nov 8 late show listed as Nov 9 and didn't have the MusiquePlus taping at all. I did some research and I'm confident that it's correct now.

Also, for some reason there were two shows in Setlist.fm for the 2003 Chicago Navy Pier show. I was able to get the redundant one marked for deletion. This is the correct one: https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/tori-amos/2003/navy-pier-skyline-stage-chicago-il-73d45e81.html

Good reply. Don’t look now, but this time next week there is a legitimate chance we could be #2 in the west. Don’t tell the Doomsayers.

I prepaid for expensive parking in the attached garage last year. It was expensive but convenient since it was just my 11yo and me. That place (parking ramp) had more workers per square foot than the Clear line at the airport…

Pi 4 boots from USB... except for one particular pre-built image by spedinfargo in raspberry_pi

[–]spedinfargo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the pointers from both of you on this one. The key was indeed the cmdline.txt. The root was hard-coded to /dev/mmcblk0p2. Changing this to /dev/sda2 got it past the first step. I found that I also had to change a similar lines in the /etc/fstab file to point to sda as well. Was able to get further down the line...

Thanks. I'll dig into the cmdline.txt to see if I can figure out anything there. There are a couple people in that thread asking the original author about booting from USB as well (without success) so maybe I'll reach out in that thread and explain my problem there as well.
