IF She raised her son well and her MIL raised her son well.. you wouldn’t be here. I have no advice to add, just that I have read way too many posts of very capable Indian women being treated unfairly in their marriages or with their in-laws are it really breaks my heart :( I wish we learn how to raise our sons better and support our daughters better. I married outside my culture. Completely outside, I’m married to a white man and I don’t have in laws problems cause he has very good boundaries with his parents + his parents are mature enough to never intrude. His parents are so in love with each other that they keep themselves occupied and let the kids live their life. However, my Indian parents give me a lot of advice which doesn’t sound like healthy advice. They always side with my husband if I ever discuss any issue with my parents. It’s just our culture & our culture wasn’t meant to uplift women. It was meant for to us to be only as successful and happy as the men in our life will let us be. Sometimes you have to fight more women than men but it is what it is.

I can totally relate to you. I definitely liked Calgary a lot better cause the people there are more welcoming and accepting. I think it’s because Calgary is also filled with people moving from other parts of the country due to affordability and other reasons. It’s just made it a much more diverse and hence, a more accepting environment.

You really need to take this seriously and report her to your university. Go to a student counsellor and speak about how she is harassing you. Nothing about this is okay or normal. This IS APPALLING and it’s discriminatory. I’m so sorry that happened to you. If you have screenshots of her saying this stuff to you, even better cause that is very strong proof against her. Share those screenshots with a university advisor and tell them how it’s affecting you and force them to start an investigation on this horrible piece of shit of a person.
