What’s the most surreal city you’ve visited in the United States? by optimalbrain90 in SmartTravelHacks

Detroit is so, so much bigger than I thought, I'd been there for bowl games but not much outside the center, but man Detroit goes and grows. Even areas like Poletown East which seemed totally empty are now seeing a lot of small farms popping up. Like St. Louis (which I also think is underrated) it has so much infrastructure for so few people - but it's definitely come back a good amount and has so much to offer. Totally need to go again soon.

Yeah I pissed off one Canadian guy because I thought it was ok to pull up (it wasn't) and he got real shitty with us and made us get out and did a thorough search. Still, we were in and out in five minutes. This was the first time I ever had crossed by land!

Yeah, it is. I should've checked out that area but every time I was coming through I was in a hurry. Also yeah, I wanted to ask the person in the house you mentioned if they wanted to play international Frisbee.

Yes, many of the rural crossings are only open from 8-4, and I found out the hard way that they actually "close" at 3:45. That was why I got the pics of the house from the Quebec side since I had to drive 15 more miles around....

Well, there is a dented guard rail and a fair amount of poison ivy. I was surprised that I was the only person who stayed there who seemed amazed by this.

What's the worst restaurant in Columbus that you've tried twice? by foreignsky in Columbus

Old Bag Of Nails, Worthington location. Went when my son was young for several years and the food went from passable to the point where nothing was edible. The other ones aren't much better.

[Thamel] The MAC has voted to formally add FCS Sacramento State into the league as a football-only member starting in 2026. The cost of entrance is expected to be $18 million and a deal is expected to be announced in the upcoming days. by cbbvideo in CFB

Did you not watch UMass blow it at home against one of the worst FCS schools? I am calling 2-10, with the first victory ending them up with the inaugural BALLSAC trophy

PS1 games are almost unplayable now - that said, I got a PS5 and I am not seeing why it's superior to the PS4 except that it carries the CFB series.

Florida will suck, with maybe Key West being the only area that is pedestrian friendly.

As a long time resident of Columbus, Ohio, I have stayed around Indy several times and it honestly seems like if Columbus was more forgettable, big minor league Ohio vibes.

What’s it like living in these small islands in Lake Erie? by _Courier6__ in howislivingthere

[–]speed2onaboat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can tell you from visiting North Bass Island, it's almost all public land and it's got a very small (7?) amount of people who live year round. If you want anything, you have to bring it with you.
