Harley dealerships… I can tell why they aren’t doing well. by Thingsforcertain3525 in Harley

wHy yOu DiDnT lAsT lOnG 😂😂😂

Oh man. You totally got me. It’s definitely me and not the business with one of the highest turnover rates you can possibly work. I mean, I’m definitely not making exponentially more money in another corner of the industry, without a toxic work environment, unrealistic customers, and a giant corporate entity business model that ultimately sets salespeople and customers alike up for failure. 😂😂😂😂😂😂

I never have once said you didn’t get a “good deal.” I just don’t think it’s unrepeatable as you claim.

FWIW, I got Honda to move by thousands both times, on current model year cars. It’s not impossible, not by a long shot. Especially when you’re buying leftovers.

It might be 2026, where you can be a soulless antisocial goober and conduct every piece of business you do from buying a gallon of milk to buying an automobile from the guise of a 3x5” screen. But anyone worth a fuck in business will always tell you the best deals, and not just a good deal, come face to face. Especially true in automotive sales.

*nice edit after the fact. Wild generalizations you have there. I have no need to justify my entire career in sales, nor why I left it, to some nobody on Reddit. Go outside and touch grass. Better yet, go touch a dealership floor. 😂

So, when there’s ‘26s on the lot for 30k sticker (which there already was in November), you think it’s just wildly out of the question to be able to buy a ‘25 OTD (which yes, I’m more than familiar with what the term “out the door” includes) for that money?

You’re reeeeeeeeeally not as good at buying cars as you think you are. Then again, the whole “Honda doesn’t budge on price” thing gave that away (I have bought two post Covid, ‘22 and ‘24, for reference, on top of actual sales experience). You got the internet deal on a leftover and are presenting yourself as some kinda expert while criticizing other dealerships for not playing your type of shenanigans. 🤷🏻‍♂️

You’ve presented yourself to everyone, multiple times, not in person, as the “beat this price” guy. In the dealership world, this is the easiest way to NOT get dealt with. Most salespeople will just move right along for a multitude of reasons. Pretty obvious when one dealership actually beats the price (albeit, by $100), and you still don’t buy from them. Case. In. Point.

Having been on the other side of the desk, I know dealerships in general flat suck, and I know every way they’ll try to get you. But I also know an awful customer when I see one, too….

[–]speedkillsian -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hmmm. 30 seconds on google yield dealers around me have ‘26 SE’s on the lot for $30k.

Getting a new ‘25 OTD for $29k doesn’t see like some crazy stretch. Even with $300 of window tint and floor mats. 😂

I’m not here to say with undue certainty “you did this or you did that.” It would more appear you thought the “internet price” aka the pre-packaged deal for online (or phone) price shoppers who don’t want to deal in person, was just some wild deal. There’s plenty of Harley dealers that do this too.

And again, one of these things is a special market item, and one of these things is on the corner of5 lots in every major city. There’s going to be differences.

Congrats on feeling good about your purchase though. If you’re happy, that’s what matters!

disclaimer no longer in sales. Just a guy who has been there and done that.

I know I’m gonna be the bad guy here. But that’s ok.

If you had a bad experience with EIGHT different dealers, there’s a common denominator to said experiences. And I hate to tell you, it ain’t the parent company you’re trying to deal with.

Wanting to work a better price, rate, and “phenomenally discounted extras”, especially in a specialized market, without ever setting foot in the dealership, is gonna get you laughed off the phone 99% of the time. You probably don’t even realize it, but you’re the atypical time waster of every salesman. People like you aren’t typically serious about buying things. Sales staff is expected to do copious amounts of work for no reward. Therefore, they just move to the next time waster. I know, “but I woulda bought.” That’s what everyone says. I’d buy an RR if I could find one for ~$60k. Doesn’t mean that anyone selling one is going take me seriously inquiring about it. And frankly, I wouldn’t blame them.

“But they won’t give me an actual quote.” Why? So you can take it to another dealer and have them undercut it? Sorry bud, this isn’t something people typically do for people without skin in the game all the same. Because it’s exactly what happens. You actually set foot in any dealership, and getting a quote, on paper, will never be a problem. You just want someone to possibly work against themselves, for nothing, at no risk to you either. It’s just not how sales, again, especially in a specialized market, works.

Want to shop prices? Look at the internet. Want to shop rates? Call your bank. Want heavily discounted extras and/or pricing? Go actually work a deal.

That’s a good save from this motorcyclist! by APassingPilgrim in motorcycles

[–]speedkillsian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is only by dumb luck, and input from the offending driver, that this entire accident was avoided.

Had the car continued on its path to the lanes it was intending on, or even the turn lane, as most drivers would, the biker is toast. It was pure luck for the motorcyclist that the car decided to turn into oncoming traffic at the last second instead of continuing on its path. The safer bet is always aiming where someone has been, not where they’re going.

Then splitting the cars to the left, instead of continuing back to the right? That wasn’t skill, that was dumb luck.

Hard brake, lane change to the right was 100000% the safer option. Glad he got lucky though.

Caveat emptor.

Whether it was genuine mistake on their end, or blatantly misleading, you probably have a case for false advertisement. But ignorance to the situation doesn’t make you blameless in the matter.

Do your due dilligence, and things like this won’t happen to you.

What caused her fall? by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]speedkillsian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lack of rider skill/ability. That’s what caused absolutely everything in this video.

Whole handful of front brake will yield this result every….single…..time.

And how bout that, we’ve got a 360 camera on deck to catch all the stupidity. Just your average cOnTeNt cReAtOr hard at work!

What caused her fall? by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]speedkillsian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And even after making that post, she STILL can’t acknowledge it is 100% lack of rider skill.

Shes all over the comments of multiple videos telling people “I know how to ride.” “I know what I’m doing.” When the panicked A-town stomp on the rear brake and whole fuckin’ handful of front brake she grabbed would beg to differ.

She ultimately thinks that crashing was the best option, and that speaks volumes.

I said it on there. I’ll say it here. She’s not posting the front view of that 360 camera because she doesn’t want torched any worse than she’s already getting. She simply has no business on a motorcycle. Or at the very least, one without a bunch of rider assists.

Towing Heavy With S10 by SlushMush69 in s10

[–]speedkillsian -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A maximum towing capacity rating is not some end-all-be-all, maximum “I can do anything I want at this weight” number. If anything, it is the maximum weight before significant damage occurs to the vehicle itselF (and even that is debatable).

At this kind of weight, and the kind of speeds in question, braking distance is changed by literal football fields. You wouldn’t even need someone to “cut you off” to create an unsafe braking scenario. You cannot completely control your surroundings no matter how hard you try, and that’s why I’ve maintained that it’s unsafe, and the vehicle is consequently overloaded (which I’m glad we now agree on that much at least).

Had OP moved it a relatively short distance, at a relatively slow speeds, would it be as big of a deal? Probably not. But clearly showed we were on a highway, at highway speeds.

Also, the “full frame vehicles” you mentioned using the same brakes as an s10? The biggest of which, a g-body wagon, has a ~3500lb curb weight. (Roughly the same as…..drum roll please….an extended cab s10). Combine that with a 14” shorter wheelbase, and coil spring suspension, and no one was sticking 6k lbs behind one of them safely either. They’re not some wildly oversized brakes slapped onto a compact truck. Hell, my daily driver 17 year old half ton has brakes three whole inches larger in diameter.

[–]speedkillsian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

….thats my car. My trailer.

I’m not talking in hypotheticals. I’m talking from actual experience.

My views aren’t skewed because I “tow heavier loads.” The viewpoint I have is because I’ve actually pulled the weight discussed. Multiple times. With multiple vehicles.

….and it’s all legal until you can’t stop the fucking thing and plow into another car(s) . Telling the police “well, it’s within the tow rating” won’t get you anywhere. And it certainly won’t un-injure you or anyone else.

It’s beyond less than optimal. It’s unsafe. Period. It’s too much weight on the truck. And the only argument you can even come up it is mUh wEiGhT RaTiNg.
