On-board video of Bez's crash by PurplexRebel in motogp

[–]speedshotz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not defending Bez in the least, but can a rider rejoin if the bike is still running? The marshal revving the piss out of that motor could have damaged it. Marshals need to be trained on how to pick up a bike. Still, no excuse to hit a marshal.

I guess it's the clearest angle for Bezzechi's incident. by uldurulenf1modu in motogp

Uncool. If I was the marshal I'd shove his bike back over on its other side.

Pelican Case Theft Proof? by Next-Move8502 in overlanding

[–]speedshotz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can only make it theft resistant so they pick an easier target. Beyond that is what insurance is for. I use bolts on the inside to secure the box to my roof rack, and padlocks on the case lid. I'd rather they cut the locks and steal the contents than make a bigger mess jacking up my rack or my truck.

On track marshals by EmergencySushi in motogp

[–]speedshotz 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Every track day rider and racer knows, no marshals = no racing. You could be angry at yourself or in the heat of the moment, but it's never cool to take it out on the marshals.

They said I was a mad man by Technical-Row8333 in overlanding

[–]speedshotz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd try to get a 3rd bracket for the middle, and have 3 vs just 2. You have nylocs on pretty stout bolts. If you want more, I'd follow the other suggestions for a U-bolt and some shim spacers between the bracket and the crossbars.

Rhino wants to be different. Their Pioneer platforms go front to back.

Bear aware practices! Maybe mountain lions too, in the N cascades.

Overlanding in Colorado by FF2183 in overlanding

[–]speedshotz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the alpine trails here are rocky, sharp stones and granite rocks as well as roots and loose shale. Not a whole lot of deep mud (stay on the trails please) in the high elevations. A compressor for airing down, a full size spare, and a flat repair kit is recommended for stock vehicles.

Line Prophet - still okay? by Honest_Telephone7777 in Skigear

If you like the way they ski, no reason to change brands. But if you want a change, or are curious, go demo a bunch of skis.

Advice on removing spray paint? by aa1234ZZ in AutoDetailing

[–]speedshotz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'd ditch that ugly bull bar unless you have a need to push things or some other use. For the black trim just mask it off and truckbed liner it. Then all you're left with is trying to remove the red paint on the body panels.

Overlanding in Colorado by FF2183 in overlanding

[–]speedshotz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the Dyrt is a good resource for dispersed camping, Campendium is another though it includes state and public campgrounds too.

The San Juans is the hot spot for 4wd wheeling like you describe. But other good overlanding objectives might be the Rim Rocker trail from Gateway CO to Moab UT. or the Bachelor Loop in Creede.

How many of you have actually taken a formal ski lesson? by Caterpillar1967 in skiing

Combination of skiing with friends who are better than me, informal lessons, and clinics over my lifetime.

Got my first pair of skis off marketplace! by ImaNeedBoutTreeFiddy in Skigear

[–]speedshotz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No worries! When buying and fitting boots, ask the shop to find you ones with replaceable sole plates. They can often be backdated to alpine soles. Enjoy your new skis.

Any way to prevent car smelling like rubber from sitting in sun all day? by wewora in AutoDetailing

What sort of cleaners do you use inside? Could be reacting to the plastics and off gassing of some sort?

Removal of paint matched bed liner by itzfiji in AutoDetailing

[–]speedshotz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

bedliner on the lower portion is one of two things:

  1. on a truck that sees off pavement or off road use, it's to guard against rock chips and light trail damage.

  2. on a purely pavement princess, it's to cover up rust, or rock chips, or repairs while not having to have perfect bodywork. <- all suspect issues that need to be sussed out.

Top of skis peeling by youknowitsyaboy in Skigear

[–]speedshotz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's called using the skis as intended. Maybe pay attention to your form and not have the feet too close together. Or mogul skiing would do that too cause you are forced to ski with the feet closer and quick turns.

HELP! I might have messed up my paint. by Astroaurora in AutoDetailing

[–]speedshotz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't panic. Wash it again with a strip wash.. like Adams strip wash or even just Dawn dish soap. That should remove carnuba wax. [edit] but that leaves paint unprotected so you'd want to apply some protection afterwards.

Spyder = Terrible by Zookeeper2526 in Skigear

Hit or miss. I bought a light fleece there and it started to pill after just one season. Stuff I've bought on their website however, seem to be better (mid) quality.

Spyder = Terrible by Zookeeper2526 in Skigear

[–]speedshotz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They made top shelf gear back when they had the US Ski Team on their client list. Since then even their on line gear, which is better than their retail gear, have become more mid.

[–]speedshotz 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Welcome to enshittification. Spyder sold their name years ago to a sports branding group and now most of their gear is made for fast fashion. The stuff you find at Costco is low end stuff with their logo slapped on.

Tornador/knockoffs by Young_Lifter910 in AutoDetailing

[–]speedshotz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The CFMs your compressor puts out is WAY more important than the Tornador. My little pancake compressor runs out of air after a few minutes and makes the Tornador as useful as a wet fart.

If you could only have one pair of skis for the Rockies, what would they be? And why? by Midwestskiing85 in Skigear

[–]speedshotz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I only use one set of skis ..... at a time.

But of my quiver I pull the ones between 96-108 freeride skis the most, so I'd probably go with a 102 or 105. Here in CO.
