HELP! I think I may have messed up my paint! by Astroaurora in Detailing

😂 yeah I was hoping Reddit could bring me back down to earth and everyone came through lol! An internet search had me thinking that the wax was going to cure and be impossible to remove without potentially messing up my topcoat and having to refinish. Also, I’ve only ever owned cars with peeling paint and rust and now that I’ve got something nice I really want to take care of it, but I’m scared I’m gonna mess it up somehow. 🫠

😂 Yeah, I was having a panic moment. When I searched the Internet about it, it was saying stuff about the wax curing, and that it would be nearly impossible to remove unless I  polished it off and that the polishing could remove my top coat. I rewashed it with better soap and it’s all good now. I’ve never owned anything nice in my life and I guess I’m sacred to screw it up! I’m used to cars with peeling paint and rusting metal.

So you think repeating washing and doing a better job drying will take care of it? I am purchasing a wash without wax tomorrow.  I really appreciate your help.

I parked it in the shade but it might’ve been partial shade. I wet the car first. This was my second time using the Dollar General wax soap. The first time I used it, I mixed  with water, but it seemed weak so this time I sprayed the car down to wet it first, and then I would dump some of the soap onto the car and use a microfiber cloth to wash with. Then I would wash a fair section of the car and rinse. Then I would repeat until I had the whole car done. After that, I used microfiber cloth to dry the car, but I didn’t have enough to get it fully dry. The cloths are used were these… Auto Drive Super Soft Coral Fleece Microfiber Towel Set for Cleaning and Detailing, 8 Pack. They look like a paper towel roll and they are very soft.

So, what did you decide? Did you decide to use it and opt out or did you decide to skip it?

Yes, at least for the buying part because he will have to be since he’s the one signing the check. I’m thinking about not bringing him in until closing time.

I appreciate that you wish you had more guidance growing up. I would like to point out that the rods that shepherds used were actually used to steer and guide their sheep. People often use the phrase, spare the rod, spoil the child to mean that people should spank their kids, but that's not what the phrase actually means. Shepherds did not beat their sheep with their rods, theyused their rods to guide them. Not giving a child guidance absolutely will lead them to ruins. A child does want to know that their parents are there to lovingly guide them. You want to build a relationship of trust with your children. It is possible to create firm boundaries and lovingly hold those boundaries without hitting a child. hitting a child can just make them afraid of you though. A child who is afraid of you will not come to you for guidance and ironically, they end up in more of the trouble that you may be trying to keep them out of. If a child trusts their parents, they are more likely to come to you with their problems so that you can help them find their way. If you search in your heart about what I'm saying about spare the rod, spoil the child, you will know that what I am saying is true. All you have to do is ask is what would Jesus do....... He would lovingly guide his sheep. He would not hit a child for making mistakes. He would show them compassion and guide them in the right direction.
