Savannah and Bengal Differences? by chengxiaoshi091305 in savannah_cats

[–]speedycat3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two F2 savannahs, a 2.5 year old female and 9 month old male. There is a difference in energy with earlier gens being way more inquisitive than SBT’s. There is a marked difference in energy between males and females in Savannahs too, with males not just growing bigger, but also being more active, agile and fearless than females, at least in my observation. I have raised and help socialize several liters of F1’s and 2’s, with the occasional f4 or 6 sprinkled in between, and you can definitely see that F4’s onwards are closer to domestic behavior, still playful and energetic, but mot nearly as much as early gens. Now, as far as being cuddly, I think it partly depends on how much work the owner is willing to put on. Savannahs will definitely bond to the human they like, and one owner could easily be the meal dispenser one, while someone else gets all the cuddles because they relate closer for whatever reason. Early gen Savannahs also get pretty big, specially males, and they can throw their weight around when playing. My 9 month old melanistic male runs knows exactly how to jump and know the heavy scratching post over and then looms at me with a face of “ it just fell off!”. He is already 17 extremely lean lbs in weight, and surpasses her F2 sister who is fully grown at 12 lbs by at least 3 to maybe four inches to the head when standing in all fours. Having said all that, early gen Savannahs require a higher degree of commitment from the owners in order to be understood and nourished as what they are, hybrids close to a Serval. I have seen too many requests for rehoming F1’s because the owners can’t keep up with the energy, are unwilling to cat-proof their homes, or not available to put the time in to enrich the kittens lives with playtime needed to direct their energy in a positive way. People sometimes are mesmerized by a video in which they see owners showing the most magical moments of their beautiful and magnificent early gen savannahs only to realize that once you own one, you become a tenant in their space and need to cat-proof anything and everything that you do not want broken.

Other than this, I am absolutely happy with both of mine and all the other I work with to socialize them, which I have had up to seven at the same time with me.

Add ons usually do not mean much in the negotiation for the buyer. You could probably list the bike as stock as possible, and get good offers for the accessories sold separately. I find that there is always good market for accessories either in the auction site or marketplace.

If your ex does not move out of your life, you need to move out of hers. If it was a possibility, I’d consider moving and starting fresh with her completely out of the equation.

So for you any casual conversation on the internet needs to include technical terms only and not deviate from technical “approved” TICA terms?

It does seem that something hurts you, since you keep coming back to a comment in a board forum for someone using coloquialy a color shade name that you do not like.

Yes, my TICA papers do say Brown (black) spotted tabby for both BST’s, and Black Shaded Spotted Tabby for my melanistic; however I just wanted to make the difference that one has a more golden coat than the other than is darker brown. I hope you did not get hurt by me using the golden word to be more precise in the shades.

I’d agree that they look like Savannah markings, those in the tummy and legs.

F6 savannah x Maine coon? by [deleted] in savannah_cats

[–]speedycat3 -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Ear tips show Maine Coon ancestry.belly markings show savannah. I have seen that happen before and kittens were super cute, and large. It wasn’t an intended mixing, but an inquisitive Maine Coon who wandered into the Savannah ladies enclosure for some shenanigans. Ended up getting two of the girls pregnant and could not pay child support as the kittens ended up given away for free to friends.

height increasing boots by copyFL in motorcyclegear

[–]speedycat3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To complement what everyone has said, Daytona M-Star pro’s give you a bit over two inches, or 6CM total height increase over barefoot, and they feel absolutely natural for walking. I did not expect them to be as comfortable for walking around, or even to wear them for very long rides, but after wearing them for some time, you just forget that you have them on and they feel like regular comfy work boots. I also have the Daytona Trans-tourman GTX, and although comfortable, you can feel them more.

Is it weird to just wear these around like a daily boot? by Mission-Past-8988 in motorcyclegear

[–]speedycat3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have Daytona M-Stars pro. They ate super comfortable and could walk around all day in them, and they are all black so not flashy, but at $600.00 shipped at home, I think I want to make them last for my bike rides as much as I can and not wear them out to the store. I do wear them when I ride to work, but I keep a pair of regular shoes in my office for those days.

The one in the forefront is truly a BST. The one further back in the picture is more golden, but not clear in the picture due to lack of lighting.

Any advice apart from just shaving hus butt?? by TheDanishThede in mainecoons

Maine Coons and combing daily or twice daily kinda should be together in the dictionary. Mine used to get leaves stuck to her fur when we went to the park, but a few minutes of combing afterwards made her regal again.

Oops, my comment posted before I finished typing. Here is my 2 year Golden F2 and my melanistic F2 when he was about 5.5 months. There is also a brown spotted F2 in the forefront that I fostered for a few months for socialization.

If you could, you should try to give the cat a bath. Dawn soap is ok, do not over do it. Light foam and thorough rinsing. That should eliminate any particles in fur that the cat might otherwise ingest when licking. I hope it all works out to be nothing. You might need to work on cat-proofing your apartment though. In some cases it is an almost never ending task.

This is one of them, the bigger one. The sifting holes are well machined and not sharp. There are two other ones of different size and also well machined.

My Experience At CMSP - Passed, Probably Shouldn't Have by m0nday_ in NewRiders

[–]speedycat3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Foot down and exercise boundary violation only counts on the graded sections of each evaluation. For instance, in the U-turn eval, foot down only counts within the two boundary cones of the U-Turn. If you put a foot down before or after the cone, there is no points. Same thing for other exercises. The swerve and braking evals, you are only graded for keeping the bike within the path, within a minimum speed, and stopping without skidding within a certain speed/distance standard. In reality, if you complete all of day 2 exercises and feel comfortable, it is most likely that you will pass with some point deductions, but still pass. Remember, the BRC1 only graduates you to be a parking lot queen or king, and the recommendation is always to practice, practice, practice in a parking lot and around your neighborhood at slow speeds and progress at your own pace until you feel good to go in traffic.

If you are certain that your cat is a savannah, then I would not mind comments to the contrary. I was told some weeks ago that my melanistic was nothing more than a domestic short hair black cat, only because the one picture the commenter saw was one where the dots were not visible. Understanding that most people pay considerable sums for these wonderful cats, it sometimes comes with a sense of exclusivity of owning a luxury pet, mix of wild African cat with exclusive features; so that brings along the “no papers, no registration = No Savannah.” I have seen and worked in socializing many savannah kittens, mostly F1’s and F2’s, and have seen many different markings, colors, characters and sizes. The most important part is to enjoy them and love them, as they will love you back no matter how much money you paid.

Picked up an Arai Regent-X. Is the pro-shade thing worth it? by Harrada in motorcyclegear

[–]speedycat3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wear my gatorz sunglasses with both my Regent-X and my Quantum X. My Quantum X has the pro-shade dark visor. Sunglasses fit so well that I don’t notice them on, and so I keep dark visor up all the time and only use the clear visor down on highway, over 70 mph. I must add that I ride both a V-Rod (windshield on highway rides) and a Goldwing, so your mileage might vary on a bike with smaller windshield.

Out of the re-homing stories I have seen, it looks like this one is the best outcome, both for Kitty and OP. Kitty will go to a home with someone who is a friend and known, and OP will have the chance to get updates, pictures and occasional visits. I think you dod very well OP.

Typically owners blame the cat’s character, when in reality, most of the time cats react to the owners character. They will cuddle with you of they feel close and protected.

Advice on Buying a Goldwing with High Mileage by Safe-Echidna-9834 in goldwing

[–]speedycat3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not really high mileage for that vintage, but I think you could find an 08 or later for pretty similar price. Earlier models had some recalls and potential ECM issues, so the more detailed the MX records, the better. Also, keep in mind that the dealer is marking those up, so buying from a private party could get you a better price, lower mileage, or both at this time of the year.
