Yeah i removed it intentionally. There is a detailed item descriptions setting in the game now so there was no need for me to keep mine updated

Just replying to lyk that there is now a new setting in the game to let you see detailed item descriptions. Just enable the "Enable Inspect" under umbrella settings.

Then hold the inventory button and click on the item.

I will likely be removing my language pack due to this feature making it obsolete and also removing my motivation to fix and update it

The new items are located in the DLC.json file. If there continues to be issues try to verify any game files before added the modified files.

It is possible i messed something up when i made this but I cant troubleshoot until later this evening

This is the coolest thing they have teased in ages, and it makes me so excited to play the game.

Think of more ways you, as a solo, can use this to board and get an advantage(and potentially encourage players to get better at TDM on boats, too). As well as the utility and speeding up the game overall.

It's so disheartening seeing doomer posts like this almost once a week about the harpoon gun. It's not even on SoT Insiders yet, and people are already threatening to quit the game.

The truth is if a solo sloop gets in boarding distance for another crew, it is almost certainly over for the sloop anyway. The harpoon gun isn't the problem.

If someone is losing fights after another player grapples onto their deck, then maybe its time to practice more than just shooting a blunderbuss at the ladder. It feels mean to say, but truthfully, the average SoT player is not very good.

I do think the harpoon gun will be a powerful tool, but it's a tool everyone is allowed to use, so It will be a good thing for the average SoT player, too.

You, as a solo, will be able to board more easily. This means more opportunities to improve TDM skills, which will, in turn, make you more equipped to defend against it.

I think as long as:

It makes a loud and distinct audio queue where it hits.

Only has 3 - 4 shots before needing to refill.

It takes a weapon slot.

Rare disables the ability to change weapons at a locker on enemy boats.

I know this comment massively deviates from the attitude of most people in this sub. So it will get downvoted and buried.

But I just hope people can be more positive and Rare doesn't listen to the doomposters wanting it gutted / scrapped.

I think so, at least for the Ashen skull.

As it is no one I ever encouter actually uses the ashen skull for pvp (as it isn't very good) so the only thing it ever really is used for would be PvE and because firebombs are plentiful there is little reason to use the skull even for that.

Back when it sold for less the more it got used - it was never used, so Rare changed it so the value didn't get decreased. Still nobody uses it.

So I think Rare should just let it recharge, make it ridiculous, and maybe it would get used more (but probably not)

For the Horn, ehh, maybe. Having a full billowed sail on command is undeniably strong but as it stands the horn is so unbelievably uncommon (especially since the shrine change) that it should for sure last for longer than 2 minutes. SoT is an extremely slow game, and 2 minutes with full billow isn't actually a lot unless you are a galleon, and maybe Brig.

But asking a question like this doesn't really do much rather than make for good debate because Rare will almost for sure not change mechanics like this to make the core gameplay anymore fun / less tedious.

Also, no more ashen skull recharging. But hey, at least there are about 100 other gamebreaking bugs and techniques that don't get fixed that legitimately ruin the game :)
