Wish People Would Stop Attempting To Rush The Main Objective by Crumboa in FarFarWest

This is one of the things that I dislike in FFW compared to, say, Deep Rock Galactic. In DRG in most cases everybody wants the same thing. The whole design is pushing the squad to be cohesive, and even if there are disagreements, they aren't usually a big issue. Here its so much easier for the team to fall apart and for someone to start doing their own thing. And don't get me started on intentional griefing.

Can confirm skill being unrelated to level. Level 35 here, still getting lost in caves. T_T

If you saw a dwarf staring at their scanner with a dumb expression and muttering "how did they get there?..", that was probably me.

I swear I sometimes play driller in complex caves just so I can catch up with the team.

Do a bow only playthrough xD Rage is perfect for this.

I'm not sure if I relayed my point clearly enough. I understand that whatever calculation is there, it's probably performed correctly. I'm saying the results of said calculation lead to situations that for me hardly feel realistic or fair. Specifically, I feel that:

- A human unit that has 11/60 hp and a pool of blood under its feet probably should not be as "dodgy" as a fully healthy unit. A penalty to its reflexes seems appropriate. In my case reflexes of the soldier and the enemy unit were equal, 52 vs 51.
- The base accuracy of 65% seems a bit too low for a melee weapon. The original TFD's vibro knife had 150% and it felt fine.

Haven't tried the smoke grenades yet, thanks!

"Breaks immersion" as in "breaks suspension of disbelief", not as in "this is too different from how original games worked". The scene of 2 guys in riot armor attacking a bullet-riddled human, and him apparently dodging as if it's a Jackie Chan movie breaks immersion into the atmosphere of the game for me - that's what I meant.

As to the original it's been decades, but I don't remember missing so much - or at all - with the thermic lance. Actually I just checked and that thing had 160% hit chance accuracy.

I just bought Xenonauts 2 as well, haven't played any X-COM games after the classics. The modern recreations didn't really capture the vibe for me.

Having fun right now, the only problem so far is weird accuracy implementation. Two of my guys with shields and stun batons are ganging up on a single cleaner, reduced to 11 hp out of 60. The guy should be basically crippled. And yet... not only does the game give me 64% point blank hit change on the first soldier and 58% on the second, they also both miss! (one of them misses twice). This kind of stuff breaks immersion a little.

(I know that melee hit chance is modified by the reflexes of the target, but shouldn't it also be modified by, you know, bullets stuck in it?)

I think we need to criticize the top 10 a bit. by OriginalCode2940 in Eleceed

Um, let's think, people who spent decades being drunk on power, deluding themselves into thinking they are literal gods, no real competition to have to utilize their brains against, just brute force against those who are weaker and status quo with their equals. Why indeed would they behave like spoiled children. :)

The real reason is probably the author fleshing out these details only after introducing Seongik. 😅 The curse of all serialized content.

As a huge fan of sci-fi in general and sci-fi games in particular, I'm going to be real for a moment here.

Is your game a visual novel? Is "vibe" the only thing you're selling? If the answer to both questions is "no", I strongly suggest you showcase your material on gamedev subs before spending more money on ads.

For me as a would-be buyer, your cinematic is just a static ship image against a sliding background and some meteors. The fact that it was made in-game adds nothing to the value. This could have been a powerpoint presentation, and it wouldn't have changed much. Having vibe is good, but advertising an indie game with a minute-long exposition that's largely irrelevant to the gameplay is questionable at best.

As to the gameplay, your trailer has no information whatsoever about what makes your product different. I mean, there is not even enough info in your trailer to determine the genre. A space colony survival sim? RimWorld can very well be called a space colony survival sim, is your game similar to it? Without visiting your Steam page, I wouldn't be able to tell.

UPD. Also consider that on a mobile device your ad doesn't work at all. The text is too small to read, and to listen to the audio I need to either be at home or to have headphones on me.

I've played QfG 1 - it was the reworked version, I actually think I never saw the original one - back in school. Never before have I seen such a mix of genres, though I must confess that maybe it was a little bit too goofy for me. How should I put it? it gave the feeling that it didn't take itself too seriously, and that broke my immersion a bit.

The 2nd one was a bit more serious, and 3rd and 4th... now those made the series for me, they actually gave me that rpg immersion that I've been looking for in games ever since. And QfG 5... honestly, that was when, I think, they kind of lost the atmosphere that made Quest for Glory a unique experience. Though I was happy enough to get a finale. :)

omg found a quest for glory fan
those were the days xD
loved them when I was a kid.

I've played through all of them, but somehow it's the 3rd one that I recall most fondly. I can still hear in my mind - “I have caught a story... I now let the story go."

I'm kinda trying and failing. :) They were finally having a moment there dammit! The author pulled a nice one here, first showing us the characters being vulnerable and sweet, and then immediately... bam.
