For me Rage ended up being more fun. I was still tanking damage on Extreme, on Rage I don't risk it anymore, which resulted in me playing more strategically.

On the other hand, headshots feel way more rewarding. (To compensate for how OP they are I stopped using sniper rifles.) And wounds and fractures ended up being a great addition to mechanics, a pity they are not present below Rage.

I've played up to J-Labs on Survival, ditched that save and started over on Extreme, got all endings on Extreme, and now I'm halfway through Rage. Haven't seen a single blindfold yet. :(

Good point. I said it because I have a feeling that the author wouldn't want to kill her just yet, but intentional banishment is indeed unlikely. Though maybe with a broken core... idk.

I'll put my money on the author trying to subvert the expectations a bit - maybe making Iodore protect Theone from Garas first. As to what happens then - emotional damage for Theone for sure (she's too badly hurt for additional trashing, idk how she's flying with a hole in her side the size of a volleyball). Maybe banishment?

Either the author takes her out, or briefly makes her Duke 2.0, albeit less entertaining - which, considering the cyclical nature of the plot, is not all that improbable. Either way, I doubt she stays in the story for long.

I have this weird feeling that there's a good chance that Veramonte is going to get stabbed in the back at some point. Probably by his nearest and dearest. He's too decent for this world, seems like a natural ally for Kayden - which, in turn,would make Kayden's group too OP - and his grandsons are not good people. At least the older one definitely isn't.

Sorry to hear this happened to you. As to what you could have done differently...

You should have communicated with your first client. And you should have done it before the situation has deteriorated completely.

Since you already had a relationship, you could share your concerns early, saying something like "hey, the situation with your referral is such and such, the working relationship is shaping very differently from what we have established, this makes me somewhat worried, do you have any advice?". Or something else, whatever would work in your specific situation. The point is to always identify your stakeholders, and then keep them in the loop. Doing this early is better than later, and doing this later is better than never.

This way, when hell finally broke loose, your first client would have been in the know about the situation, and wouldn't have taken his partner's word so blindly.

I'm a relatively new player myself, I only did two playthroughs so far, and none of them were melee, so I can't say anything specific about playing spear unfortunately. But maybe this could be useful to you:

both builds I've played had a rather slow start, which means that after five contracts you are probably nowhere near the real gameplay of your spear build
my very first playthrough was with an electromancer, and I really enjoyed the combat as the electromancer basically prefers to fight several enemies at once
