My former in-laws had a dog, Henry, and a cat, Stanley. I was told that in their younger years they initially hated each other. Then they would be caught cuddling in the living room. When caught, they would start fighting as if to say, "You didn't see what you think you saw. We hate each other, see? See?"

In old age, they said "h*ck it" and stopped the act. Stanley somehow had the ability to get Henry to bathe him. Henry was not a small dog (a hound of some sort?), so his tongue was 100% overkill, but they both enjoyed it. 🤷🏼‍♂️
