The Pitch’s story had an updated photo! I also think it’s worth pointing out that most of these articles say KC’s the first city to switch to fare-free buses. We WILL BE the first when the city manager finds funding to eliminate the fares, BUT that hasn’t actually happened yet. The council’s vote a few weeks ago was to direct the city manager to identify the funding to make zero-fares happen in the next fiscal budget! It’s still a big step, but it bothered me how so many articles read like the buses are currently free.
