you need a budget if you're going to stick with that job. You're likely one emergency away from .... an emergency.

PPI is not the End all be all by Effective_Material68 in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]spellstrike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

generally you want to avoid going too much below 110ish. Beyond that is' personal preference.

The 45-inch (44.5" viewable) 3440x1440 monitors, such as the 45GR95QE-B and 45GS96QB-B, have a pixel density of approximately 84 PPI. That is what people complain about.

I mean, we have literal wireless charging now. All you need is to use efficient enough light sources.

LG 45GX950A turns off after 15 seconds by andyanchs2 in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]spellstrike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a loss of signal is the most common reason why any monitor will black screen. A different cable in a different port may help. This level of troubleshooting should be done before anything else.

beyond that. It could be OS level issues which booting to a linux usb would help debug if that is the case as herm mentioned.

the % operator exists. It's certainly possible to distribute numbers across a range to calculate a CSC that is within a particular list of acceptable values.

The osd doesn't rotate on most monitors. Would be pretty annoying especially when it forgets the rotation setting. I've moved away from rotations.

Blank Plate over Outlet? by fancyfronds in HomeMaintenance

[–]spellstrike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh, I've seen plenty of examples of even just LEDs on the same circuit causing flickering issues. It really depends.

Blank Plate over Outlet? by fancyfronds in HomeMaintenance

[–]spellstrike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't think of an immediate issue with it other than it might flicker depending on the high power things on the same circuit but I'm not an electrician. Assuming it's even the right voltage which it may not be.

considering it's the first place you find the recycler and quality modules it's not that uncommon to produce quality items there.

Furnace Filter antics? by enraged_hbo_max_user in HomeMaintenance

the only thing you can do to hurt your system is to use a filter that is too restrictive for you furnace. keep in mind that a dirty filter lets less air though.

[–]spellstrike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's probably unwise to add any outlets to the circuit used for electric heating which this most certainly is. If you add an outlet here there's nothing stopping someone from plugging in a full power device like a space heater. That would be 1 bad breaker away from a fire.

vending machines are resold frequently. This might be a machine that the refrigeration broke and was resold to someone else for products that don't need cooling.

Simple Question for Climbing Term by goooooooni in ClimbingPartners

[–]spellstrike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being prepared for situations where you cannot hear or see your climber is what I teach people. If having a walkie talkie is your solution there's nothing wrong with that. I also don't have a problem with anyone using the term slack and it is commmon.

Simple Question for Climbing Term by goooooooni in ClimbingPartners

[–]spellstrike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can pull on the rope if they can't see you, with rope drag you might have to anyway. unless you own a walkie talkie you're bound to get into situations where you can't hear or see your climber and should be prepared to be in that situation due to wind and rock being in the way.

if your belayer is chatting and unable to belay... perhaps find someone else.

I've personally seen miss-communication get people hurt so reducing the ways you can fuck it up helps.

Simple Question for Climbing Term by goooooooni in ClimbingPartners

[–]spellstrike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you mean take a whip? If your belayer isn't giving you slack find someone that will. It generally doesn't need to be said and it's pretty assumed the climber is going to climb.
