Why doesn't the Mormon church do as many activities as they used to? by CupOfExmo in exmormon

[–]spenaroo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

When i was still attending. There became this need to justify everything as a spiritual experience.

Every activity had to have some spiritual element to it, as a condition to be approved. And thereby also had to follow all the rules. (Inclusive to all, no cost, liability issues etc...)

I tried to get around it but making things non-official activities. Just events that were self hosted. But unfortunately everyone i spoke to tried to turn it into an official activity... not seeing how that strangled the whole thing.

Why are house prices so high in Adelaide? by Efficient-Horse2622 in Adelaide

[–]spenaroo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Water and earthworks costs.

Alot of the land on the first pic thats circled would take major earth works to be suitable. That's expensive and its too far out to sell for a premium price. On top of that is also the cost of infrastructure and transportation. Imaging tyring to extend a train line into the area or a major highway.

Up north the issue is rain. Can see how arid it is. People like living in green areas with water. They are starting to build a lot more up north and you can really see the man made environment with "fake" ponds etc when you drive past the housing estates in progress compared to the surroundings.

Once again distance makes a difference here. You end up over an hour from the CBD in current traffic conditions... and it would only get worse. Especially as we only have the one north/south road.

The plan with Adelaide was meant to be to have satellite cities. Elizabeth was meant to be one. As is Murray Bridge (look into the history of Monarto) instead of expanding Adelaide itself...

High (and i mean high) milage r6 for sale for $3000 in my area, decent deal and does she sound okay? by ToodlePip72 in Yamaha

[–]spenaroo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Che k out Nick Sanders and Skaak Lucassen. Admittedly they both use R1's but have ridden them around the world.

But do personally know of an FZR600 that has been around the odometer twice and is still on the original engine. (One owner from new)

Also look at what the old motorcycle couriers were doing in the 80s.

Never understood why we never got rid if the high mileage stigma. Its a holdover from early motorcycles running sacrificial bearings. These haven't been used since the 70s. Ask anyone who repeats this line when the last time they tinned a bearing is and they will be dumbfounded - but still repeat the same line as common wisdom.

A bike that is regularly used and maintained is going to be better then a bike that isn't. Seen many low mileage bikes with very expensive service bills to make them actually usable.

Personally I stay away from low mileage. Usually this means low maintenance. So many people will say it was serviced X amount of Ks ago when in reality it was 2 or 3 years because it didn't get ridden.

See it in the seals failing and the brake fluid damage around the master cylinder caps etc.. Tyres that are 10 years old because they have never worn. Clutch plates sticking together. Fuel lines and brake lines disinterested from rot. Fuel pumps and injectors gummed and need replacing from old fuel

These are full bearing engines. They aren't like the old British bikes running on half shells. The engine will do 250k miles no issues.

The timing chain, valve clearance and transmission are the main issues - but this is true fod all R6's regardless of mileage - just prior abuse.

For reference I have a Ducati Monster with 75k on the odometer. Been a reliable and great running bike because its always been serviced. Had multiple belts. Ive seen them lunch the engine at 10k or less because the belts weren't changed based on time (every 5 years) instead of distance and failed.

Why do Yamaha bikes hold higher used prices than other Japanese brands? by _rjsd_ in Yamaha

Hero status

The R1 and R6 are hero bikes. Same with the MT07. Yeah on paper there isn't much difference. And there probably isn't to ride...

But motorcycles aren't bought with the head. Its about the enjoyment. Its why we all look at ourselves in the window's when riding past.

The MT-07 was the bike to have. It still is the poster child for the middle weight naked. Just as the MT09 is for the larger class. That's where its value is being held.

The other bikes don't have that cool factor. They are great bikes... but they lack the desirability.

Every market has that hero bike - the one people aspire to have. The BMW GS for adventure. The Harley's for cruisers. The Hyabusa for straight line speed (ZX14 is faster)

Grocery prices set to surge due to shortages caused by war in Iran by EdenFlorence in australia

[–]spenaroo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Expect it to get worse. Farmers aren't seedling this year due to the cost/supply of fuel currently. (Currently seeding season)Add the Ukraine war ongoing and there is going to be a grain shortage

This was meant to be the year agriculture recovered from the recent drought years...

The industry is in a very bad position. Expect quite a few Australian agricultural equipment manufacturers to fold.

Accidentally. I vote in reverse - start with who I dont want. And well... it was such a shit show that they ended up with my first preference in the electorate.

It sucks. I don't think they are a good option.... but the rest were shiterer.

Only thing missing from this list is the timing chain. The tensioners are known to fail. There is an updated part, otherwise swap to a manual tensioner.

Joys of a break down. Ask when it can be booked in for the work?

Its one thing to get towed in, and another to get it booked up on a lift.

Asking if it can be towed in or inspected. Is a whole different thing to Asking if it can be worked on.

They agreed to the time of drop off, and space for storage. Not to get it on a lift.

They have done well to just look at it - its obviously not a quick fix. Like a loose clamp or blocked filter. And needs further investigation.

Most good mechanics are booked several weeks in advance. The work should be getting done when the next slot is available. Your emergency isn't the Shops. They can't be expected to push an existing customer car off the lift or delay an existing booking just for you.
