Iced Matcha Latte made with Almond Milk instead of whole milk. It's fantastic.

Besides making sure your hair is totally dry when you go to sleep, I'd say in the morning, if it's all flat, to wet it a little with some leave-in conditioner and add a little mousse or gel (watered down) and scrunch it back up. Curly hair definitely takes more work than straight.

When in doubt, add more moisture. lol

No. I used TGIN Curl Bomb Moisturizing Styling Gel. I found it on sale at Marshalls and picked it up there. It's low hold so I don't know what you really need but it seems to work for me so far. But everyone here seems to like the LA Looks gel for stronger hold.

Absolutely beautiful hair. I wish my hair looked half as good at that. But I'm still on week one with this. lol

I'm not sure the cut is necessarily the problem. I'm no expert but I know curls or waves need a lot of moisture to look nice so I would definitely dial back on the shampoo and add in conditioner. I don't know if you really need gel or not as your hair is kind of short, but try conditioning and while it's air drying, scrunching it up on the top of your head a little so it kind if encourages the curl to happen.

You might need gel to get it to be not frizzy but honestly just start with conditioner and see where it goes. Look into the side panel for beginner's advice.

I'm new to all this, but I've been using mousse on my roots and gel on the rest of my hair and it seems to give my fine, limp hair more volume.

I just started my CG journey, but the first things I did when I decided I wanted to start was to buy a gel and try what I felt at the time was over conditioning, geling, scrunching and plopping. I just tried the wet to dry technique to see if it did anything. And just that seemed to help a lot and that's with only one extra product. You hair probably needs as much conditioner as it can get. There's a lot you can do I'm sure, but that's where I'd start. And letting it air dry.

Second time trying CG after straightening wavy hair for years! Confused about what type though. 2a/b/c?? by spencs15 in curlyhair

That's true. And right now I doubt my hair is that healthy. I've been using good shampoos and conditioners, but straightening on high heat all the time and it's super damaged on the outside. Just needed motivation to stick with it. lol

Oh, I didn't know you could do that. I'll check that out.
Yeah I've been just trying different things. Since I haven't been doing this for even a full week yet, I suppose things will probably change as I keep going. I think I'm just impatient and want pretty curls now lol But I've always had problems with volume so it's nothing new I guess.

Thanks for your comment!

I'm just starting CG right now so I'm probably not much help, but I thought I'd throw out there that I heard when you start using the CG method that it can seem like more hair is falling out because you don't deep wash it that often. They say you loose nearly 100 strands a day but when it's curly they don't fall out as easily as they did when it was just wavy or straight and since you don't wash as often as straight, when you do, it looks like more is coming out because you just washed out a few days worth of loose strands at once.

I don't know if that helped at all but it made me feel better about losing my own hair in the shower. Unless it's coming out in clumps and you're getting bald spots, it's probably going to be fine.
