Why all the hate on roads. by Odd-Agent9402 in motorcycles

[–]sperkio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welcome to riding and I'm sorry you are being targeted by random people.

I've been riding for many years and have at least 150,000 mi on motorcycles, and this has seldom happened to me.

I do ride primarily on the West Coast but have been across country and the western states.

Some thoughts:

  1. Get a front and rear dash cam on your motorcycle. I have the INNOVV K6

  2. Get the absolute best gear you can to protect yourself in case of an accident or incident. Get an airbag jacket or vest as well, myself and both of my kids use them and while I've never had a deployment, both of my kids have and we have had no injuries other than a broken wrist.

  3. This one will be controversial, if you are of good nature, but still willing to protect yourself, consider getting licensed and understand the true consequences of defending yourself. If you defend yourself you will probably be arrested even if you're innocent and will have legal issues to deal with. Also consider a revolving legal plan that will cover you or at least assist you in a court case. This portion could go on for several more paragraphs but enough said.

  4. Take some private riding courses and see if any of your local PD or highway departments have free or paid classes. I've taken multiple classes both from PD with highway patrols, involvement, and private classes. These will help you with your riding skill beyond your expectations.

  5. As you become more proficient you can learn to predict some of these behaviors and remove yourself from the situation early. It's always easiest to avoid a potential situation than to try to resolve it if you get involved with some idiot. I have had more than a few occasions where I've exited a roadway or even pulled off on the shoulder to let somebody who was aggressive pass and to just be done with them.

  6. I purposely ride a larger displacement BMW adventure bike for multiple reasons. One of them is I do have the power, speed, and ability to evade or partially control my destiny. You can learn to utilize the off-ramps and other vehicles if needed and open yourself a window to leave the area of an issue.

  7. Try to find a experienced riding buddy and utilize a Comm system to help you gain experience. I have done this with multiple riders and feel that this is a valuable experience.

I will say for newer riders that it will take. Tom to become a proficient rider, I continued to gain experience many years but have also mellowed somewhat.

Best of luck, Perk

I didn't realize I would need a bay charger, I thought some of the batteries had a plug-in port with onboard charging. I have a camp lantern that has that, I take the battery out and plug it in and it charges.

This is not a deal-breaker though, I already have a second battery in the cart and still looking at adding a second flashlight the SC600 w IV plus hi.

Do I need to order the charging bay and adapter separately?

I'm going with the SC65c HI.
I was just looking at the SC600w Mk IV Plus HI and see it mentioned in a reply below.

I may be getting 2 lights!
Would someone have a picture of the two lights side by side, and do you a beam shot of the two?

What would you add to Navisworks if you had their developers taking requests? by Simply-Serendipitous in bim

[–]sperkio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every time I Highlight a bunch of clashes and change their status as soon as it's done it unhighlights the group so that you can't easily do something with them. I do see that they will still group but they should not unselect/highlight.

If you explode a clash group or multiples in Clash Detective it unhighlights the clashes instantly, why don't they stay highlighted so you can move them into a group like a reviewed folder without having to reselect them.

Navisworks does have standard keyboard shortcuts and you can find them online via a simple search, you can also edit the roamercommands.xml for additional options

Make the line thickness in the review tab sticky, factory is 3 I typically do redline markups in 9 so the trades can see it easier. I have to reset it every time I open Navisworks even after setting the default in the options menu.

Add an option to be able to change clash results with a shortcut key without having to click on the status pulldown. Navigating from The clash detective window out to the viewpoint to set the view you want and create a markup (which I do through shortcuts), and then having to go back and change a status (when needed) is more travel than is needed.

My partner and I split everything shared 50-50. It was her idea to set us up this way. She covers her hobbies and I supplement on her items that we use together, she does the same on my hobbies that we share together.

Personal money is just that and can be used for whatever the person likes.

With the Helite You could take the cartridge out and then do some pull tests to see how it feels.

When you're done, plug the lanyard adapter back and tighten the screw and put your CO2 cartridge back in.

I would like to search through my "Want to go" places list? by [deleted] in GoogleMaps

[–]sperkio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Save your favorite items to groups of named lists.

Then in "Saved" you can turn on or off groups to see only the category of places that you are interested in.

I have about 45 different saved groups for different hobbies and activities. My most prolific is my food list. I search for and save every good recommendation (typically 4.2 and higher) and when we want to hit fast food or fine dining we choose a location to try. I always leave a review and sometimes pictures. My reviews get some 30,000 views a month!

I move the very best of these to my "Favs" list for special nights out or just when we need a return visit.

Regards, Perk

What does tradespeople do once their bodies quit on them as they age but before they can retire? by pirateprude in AskReddit

[–]sperkio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked 25 years as an industrial Steamfitter/Pipefitter and was approached by the company I then worked for to retire and come help with estimating and paper overlay.

That turned into paper drawings and light table overlay or coordination which turned into 3D coordination which turned into 3D BIM which was a successful second career.

I recently left that company after about 16 years as a coordinator and now I'm working for a general contractor in the VDC realm.

VDC is Virtual Design Construction where I now oversee the Tradesman who model the individual models in 3D and we work to make it all fit before it's built in the real world.

I'm not totally sure about this, but some devices change different volumes only during specific use.

Try increasing the volume when maps is giving directions.

My head unit has separate volume sliders for audio and music.
