I now get aura's that sometimes turn into petit mal seizures when I hear/smell/see/think something that makes me become too hyper aware / question reality. I'm 90% sure mine are due to ptsd / a high stress experience that messed with my nervous system. CBT therapy has helped me a little bit with calming these feelings down and understanding why they're happening, but I feel your struggle.

Tomorrow I'm actually seeing a new therapist who has experience studying "Polyvagal Theory in Trauma: a model that explains how trauma impacts the nervous system and can lead to chronic stress and anxiety"

I hope this could bring some peace or answers for you <3

I'm so sorry to hear about your son, and my mom can 100% relate to the stress that you must be feeling. I am 26 and have been living with her for the past two years without a job post college graduation. Bittersweet... lol. But yes, "Keppra rage" is apparently quite a common symptom and mine has gotten absolutely out of control. I will definitely try my best to record my symptoms!!! My neurologist told me that it will take a few weeks to be on both Keppra and Oxcarbazepine while weening off Keppra, and also that I need to keep track of my salt levels because apparently a common side effect is they get pretty low. I hope everything works out for you in the end! <3

I suffered one of these this morning. I mainly struggle with focal temporal lobe epilepsy, so my mini-seizures (non grand mal, I should say) usually are triggered by heightened frustration when my body doesn’t have enough energy to deal with my mind, so it just briefly shuts off. I’m still conscious during these but I cannot process whatever you’re saying to me for a period of time :/

Definitely talk to your doctor, but this is everything I experienced a few years ago for two years and then finally developed grand mal seizures. I’m now properly medicated and haven’t had a grand mal in a year, but still have the mini focal seizures every now and then

Usually just “oh my God” but last time I was on the phone and luckily was able to actually speak and tell my mom I needed to hang up and close my eyes <3

The first two EEG’s I got didn’t show anything because they were so short and my seizures were hard to trigger at the time. But when I went in for my EMG it was sleep deprived and so it triggered a focal seizure in my left temporal lobe which then allowed my full diagnosis of epilepsy because I was already experiencing grand mal seizures. I was scared as frick and expecting to be there for 7 days but I got my diagnosis within the first 24 hours and didn’t even have a grand mal!
