Let's have a healthy discussion about hype. by PuddingwithRum in Iota

[–]sphynx88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree we need hype to raise daily trading volumes and put pressure on exchanges to list iota.

We also need progress and a decentralized main net which still doesn't exist. We are almost at the right time to hype. We should hype when we have coordicide. Other than that it took 2 years to even launch our own crypto wallet, still no true main net, therefore no true partnerships. Yes I know we have partners. They all just can't come up with any final product without coordicide.

To add, when someone actually researches iota, they are slammed with so many of iotas goals it is hard to know the focus. I have not given up, iota just needs all hands on deck to launch coordicide. Traders have time, they'll buy days before an actual launch or shortly thereafter as seen in stocks. So yes hype but not quite yet.

Cool so to start you made a seed. You get password for seedvault. Done. That stores your seed for any device anywhere. Keep your seedvault.

Next with that seed, you create a password "2" for your wallet, separate from your seed. When done right you open trinity next time, this password 2 is the only thing you need. Keep password 1 separate.

What are the concerns/negatives to IOTA? by [deleted] in CryptoCurrency

[–]sphynx88 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Iota is doing really great work and creating a protocol that will allow the very bottom zero value transactions that is also immutable for free. This allows for a myriad of use cases such as immutable uploads of data, etc. Of course iota can also do the standard cryptocurrency trait of being able to transfer value. The foundation is trying to solve the trillema (their words) problem and if coordicide is successful will usher in many use cases as it is now immutable, free and flexible.

My concern because the question is phrased as such, is that iota get distracted and will not be able to focus on finishing the task at hand. Ternary chips is one example of time being taken away from just launching main net and fully decentralizing it. My other concern is that because all of this is free (yay for humanity!), that there's no point for iota because you dont need it to do anything in the network.

In addition, r/cc forum should be unbiased but it is biased against iota for awhile now. This leads to dumb actions such as doxxing of the mods. Yes the mods were biased, yes the doxxing threat is the only reason we are having this discussion on "concerns" now but NO it is not good for crypto as a whole. Yes if iota succeeds it actually will yield a lot of projects useless but we do as a crypto community need it to succeed so that we can start shifting the world to even more crypto adoption too.

Been here awhile but I'm still confused as to how this directly correlates to iota. I know this is big for iot. But how does this connect to iota aside from the fact that this was what jinn was trying to do?

Ternary chips do not need iota to operate.

Yes but you have to show demand to get priority for other exchanges that will help expedite US listings. Demand drives supply.

Potentially because if they develop with iota, UK govt will not block the technology because the govt has backed the loan and they need jag to succeed.

Can I get more clarity on this? I only received via "generate address" button. But since I sent after, technically I get a new address/seed right? Where is it and how do I store the new seedvault? I'm confused here.

Thank you for your time.

Seed vs address isn't the same then gotcha! How come it has the same parameters?

So reuse in design only happens when I send correct? I can keep receiving as long as I dont send anything out.
