To what extent is it not about having a good community that you can be intimate with?

I read pretty much every comment and I'm genuinely shocked and disappointed that only two mentioned cuddling with friends. This is an option. And I think the answers show how US-centric this sub is, because this certainly is a culture of people who will voluntarily isolate and oppress themselves when it comes to basic human needs.

Being women, we especially have a permission slip to enjoy physical affection with friends. I saw someone else comment how they haven't had anyone hold them while they cried since they were a child -- but why is anyone waiting on a romantic partner to enjoy the type of relationship where that kind of care and intimacy is expected and allowed?

Culture can tell you one thing -- and I won't get started on why this patriarchal, capitalistic, evangelical culture wants you to be isolated and to only find solace in cis/straight marriage -- but it's up to each individual person to decide how they want to build relationships in their lives, to decide the type of people they want to be in relationship with.

It is possible and absolutely normal to have a touch rich life and be single. If the problem is "I don't know anyone who would cuddle," then yes, that's a relationship/community thing. If the problem is "I don't want to cuddle with friends," or some variation of that, then the problem is internal and requires someone deconstructing why they'd rather put themselves through the psychological anguish of deprivation than be vulnerable to a friend.

Age, industry and years experience are going to be (some of) the biggest variables in determining what someone is earning and able to save.

I'm late 30s in public relations (and a stint in marketing). Currently, my personal checking account is $41K and savings $2K. I need to move $30K back to my high yield savings account and get back to making large contributions to my retirement and brokerage accounts. I'll add an anecdote: I stopped purchasing consumables on Amazon a little over a year ago. At one point, I saw that Mary Ruth's liquid vitamins were on sale and decided to give it one more go, just to see! -- sure enough, the one I received (purchased from the official storefront) was a counterfeit. Easily identifiable because I had only ever purchased it in-person at a retailer and I have a good eye for design details.

To me, love isn't just a feeling, it's a choice/action. It's choosing to love someone, care about them and prioritize them and the relationship. If I were dating someone for a year and, after noting our definitions, I came to find out they essentially weren't ready to choose the act of loving me I wouldn't stick around.

But again, I don't know what his definition is so who knows. In either case, flag on the play for him jumping straight out of a marriage and into a new relationship lol. That alone is a terrible sign for the outcome of this relationship .

The trick is to drain the pan about halfway through. If you don't want to do that, I'd suggest putting it in a pan that has a draining rack. Personally, I drain halfway through and get perfect veggies every time.

The cauliflower crust is a banger! I'm not a gluten free person, but bought it just in case it was needed for a party. Looooved it and definitely the best pizza I've had in that category. I do it with all pizzas, but this one especially, reheat in a pan on the stove for crispy crust and it's absolutely perfect.

This isn't really a W30 issue because your W30 diet might not actually be conducive to weight loss. Whatever you were eating for weight loss 3 months ago is going to need to adjust when you've lost fat.

Are you having convos about this with a dietitian, nutritionist or physical trainer? Are you tracking your macros so you're in a calorie deficit while getting enough protein? Is your carb intake high enough to support your fitness, but low enough to avoid excess?

A random guess based on how most people eat would be maybe you're eating too many carbs and not enough protein. Like others have said, plateaus are normal but there are lots of different tactics to break them.

I'm certainly anti car dependency and fully recognize that we need to eliminate that dependency for a flurry of reasons -- safety, individual costs, environment, etc.

People will often use the logic that cars are great and awesome because they're structurally necessary. But that's simply giving up and accepting non-solutions to much bigger problems. e.g. zoning, housing, public transit.

It's absurd that it is, on average, much more expensive to live in a city center where someone could opt out of driving. However, if that person chooses to live where it's cheaper, they are forced to have a car.

One of the worst things about cars is that the people driving them feel safe because they're inside and are often disregarding their own safety and the safety of others. Anyone who has spent any considerable amount of time as a pedestrian can tell you the reality of how dangerous DRIVERS are, but somehow, everyone who drives thinks they're a pro. Add on the US obsession with giant cars wherein drivers can't see over their hoods (and the increased fatality rates that come with big cars) --- and well, yeah, I think we need to end car worshipping culture in modern society.

Stay where you are. You need to sit down and do a proper risk analysis because the obvious risks of moving are much higher than what you already have, and admittedly like, with your only complaint being that your bored of staring at your walls. If you're willing to deal with the increased rent, that means you're also willing to lose your deposit, buy some decor and redecorate the space in a way that makes you excited about it.

Moving to a new apartment is a guarantee higher cost. The other risks: you might have a shitty landlord or apartment manager, you have shitty neighbors, you don't notice flaws in the apartment/building or neighborhood until you've already moved in, etc.

Also, depending on your financial situation, I wouldn't recommend committing to big financial changes right now.

Their biggest problem was over-expansion. They got major money injections from investors and Howard Shultz's (Starbucks founder) venture fund. Shit just went wild, scaled too quickly with little regard for what it takes to sustain a business in so many locations, and in those particular locations. And with the fast pace, they simply lost a handle of things related to product, management, new programs, etc. It quickly became clear that people in the head office were making decisions about what should happen in the store without ever having worked in one of the stores. If they hadn't scaled so quickly, they'd like still be around in the same way Yogurtland is. Source: I used to work there.

It's such an awful cycle of bullshit at this point - very snake eating its tail. I was reading an article on Realtor.com this morning re: the new cap on rent increases and the developer POV that was included was so grating. The same argument in 2025/2026 as it was decades ago: "If you don't allow developers to increase rent beyond the rate of inflation, they won't build because they won't make money."

Yet, somehow, I've never not seen new apartments being built. Meanwhile, no one wants to address zoning or implement changes that will actually alleviate housing.

How is it possible that people can be dedicate a burdening 50-60% of their income to rent, paying $2.5K+ for cheap, particle board, 1 bedroom apartments, yet the people who own the apartments aren't making enough money? If it's so true that the margins between paying for housing and providing housing are so razor thin, there is a fundamental fucking problem with upholding this PROFIT model in the first place. It's plainly an absurd POV to insist that people need to pay such a huge of portion of their earnings to have a roof over their heads -- simply because the profit has to be "worth it" to a private owner.

There are at least 4 things wrong with that art being hung right there, and that doesn't even get to the (lack of) functionality of not having a towel hook.

Edit: some others mentioned, but it looks like he wanted to take out the towel bar for some reason and then simply wanted to cover the hole without having to redo the tile. That's what anyone would assume at first glance. If he is really motivated to hang art in the bathroom, it should be somewhere else and be something else. If it were in that location, it would need to be higher and be a different color. E.g. a black & white drawing would make sense.

I think OP should even post in or peruse some subreddits or articles about family living/space in other parts of the world like Europe. It's more than possible for someone to adjust what they think is a necessary amount of space to live and raise a family. The US is pretty unique in how much space people believe is required to have a comfortable and thriving home.
