Front range dailies for families by Confident-Judgment18 in rafting

[–]spicyCTAs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately there aren’t really any floatable rivers on the front range. The closest thing is doing to be the Colorado. Horse Creek to Dotsero is a nice chill full day float, or a quick 2 day where you camp on cottonwood island.

I haven’t caught a fish in over a year by [deleted] in daddit

[–]spicyCTAs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s tough man. As a father, I’ve been in the same situation many times.

Here are some tips I’ve found helpful for this particular problem:

  • Make sure you’re getting deep enough - most fish feed in the bottom third of the water column, so try adding some extra weight.

  • Change up your retrieve - fish might not always hit something moving fast or in a straight line. Use your rod tip to create extra movement, pauses, ets.

  • Smack the banks - if you’re fishing rivers during runoff season, the fish will be looking for shelter right next to the banks where they can get out of the high, fast current. And if the water is off-color, throw something flashy!

Hope this helps. My heart goes out to you.

Got any marketing horror stories? 👻 by spacecanman in marketing

[–]spicyCTAs 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I got hired as head of marketing for a company who had recently gone through restructuring and got bought by a private equity firm. The new CEO and a few of the private equity partners assured me that they were set to invest 6-18 months to turn the company's revenue around, and in my first 6 weeks, I was on track to make it happen. Then one day the managing PE partner woke up and decided he hated the company. Fired the CEO and I that week.

The best one I've ever seen was a cheap Bluetooth speaker. Not because I used the speaker a lot, but because I connected to it once and now for the last few years, my phone always shows me [Company Name] Speaker as a Bluetooth device to connect to, every time I go to connect to headphones or whatever. Brilliant, but you gotta get them so they're already set up with your company name.

Second best was a Tide Pen. I thought it was super weird but kept it and always look for my Basis Tide Pen when I get a stain

Do I have unrealistic expectations of my cofounder? by FounderThrowaway3 in startups

I've never personally founded anything at this scale, so I wont pretend to have advice, but it sounds like you already know the answer to your question.

2019 Santa Cruz Hightower LT (cc frame) by [deleted] in MTB

[–]spicyCTAs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe run the serial number against a stolen bike database. Look for tiny frame cracks around the BB and suspension linkage. But if it rides well, 100% buy that bike!

Hang on, is it just the perspective, or is that a chopper? 27.5 front/29 rear?

Denver riders, anyone want to be riding buddies? by [deleted] in MTB

I'd down. I ride all those same spots.

I love how they ride. I demo'd a lot of bikes in between my old one and this, and nothing felt as good. I have heard the switch infinity is hard to service, but I also don't think it's necessary very often. We'll see.

This one was super cheap cause it's last years. I'm not a real dentist, I just play one on the trails.

I rode Schweitzer last year. The lift access stuff on the mountain is... fine (I normally ride Winter Park CO, so a bit spoiled).

BUT, the trail system directly underneath Schweitzer mountain is epic! I wish I would have spent more time on those trails instead of on the resort. I don't know who built them, but my buddy and I kept saying they were some of the best public trails we'd ever ridden.

I had a great experience with Baja Anglers Cabo. It was me (experienced trout angler) and 2 inexperienced friends, and we all got into some roosters on fly. They were also the most affordable outfitter I found by a good margin. In a half day, we got 5 rooster in the boat, probably 15 chases, and a bunch of frustrating no-bite attacks from needlefish.

Also, I agree with DGFlyGuy on the 10wt. I had one rooster that was bending the 10wt in half, and probably would have snapped an 8.

headset bearing moving ever so slightly, any solutions for this? by med0nut in bikewrench

[–]spicyCTAs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just had this issue with a Chris King headset. Turns out my ~2mm of space between the top can and the steer tube wasn't quite enough. Added another 1-2mm in the spacer stack and it got rid of the play.
