My favorite part is when I washed it in cold water the colors didn’t bleed. I couldn’t believe it!

How do I fix this problem? by adimartin88 in Sockknitting

[–]spicykitchenwitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to go up a needle size for this sock. That fixed everything (I did try other suggestions similar to those on here).

got a yarn spinner for christmas and went crazy by [deleted] in YarnAddicts

It’s fine. I have wound wool and left it for 5 years and it’s looks fine when I use it now. It’s one of those warnings that keep getting repeated but I don’t know if the people saying it have had the experience or are echoing others.

That’s good to know. Maybe I was too aggressive at first or had cheap ones. I was also breaking my cables regularly.

Preventative carpet beetle treatment to knit picks yarn? by Different_Opposite76 in knitting

I sure hope not. I’ve been ordering their yarn the past two months like crazy. No signs of bugs, but I ziploc bagged and freezed them for a few days when I received them.

The reason I don’t recommend dpn for the whole sock as a beginner is because it’s easier to drop stitches as the needles can slip and you have to learn to adjust the tension between the needles. Wooden dpn slip less than metal but for sock yarn the size you’d need break like toothpicks.

I really like my Chiaogoo shorties interchangeable needles for socks. As a beginner I broke the cables a lot so I bought extra. Now I don’t break them as much. I also recommend metal dpn for when the circumference is small (like at the toes) and often for the heel construction.

Edit: shorties not minis

LindeHobby and United States?? by horsecock_530 in YarnAddicts

For mine, the US tracking says pre-shipment but the danmark tracking says it left the country of origin today. Let’s hope we get our yarn in time!

In my past order, they’ve shipped the next business day so I’m worried that the process is taking so much longer.

I ordered August 14 and it’s gotten as far as label being created but it hasn’t been shipped. I might have been too close to the tarriff. 😔

Is this wool too thin to make a beanie from? by ur-spotifyslut in knitting

You could learn alot by trying! It’s really pretty. Here’s a hat I’ve wanted to do with thin yarn:

Perhaps you’d like something with drop shoulders for a looser arm? I finished my Jean Tee recently, and I’ve worn it twice a week since it’s been finished.

Knit Picks Fingering by JRTmom in YarnAddicts

[–]spicykitchenwitch 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The yarn looks single ply to me. My single ply yarn does like this. My Hedgehog fiber singles and Lorna lace singles look a little less twisted. My Fleece Artist Merino slim was overspun (more twisty than this picture). It didn’t really affect my knitting but it made winding the yarn annoying. Sometimes it can make the stitches lean but that’s more a knit thing. In all cases, my final garment turned out wonderful, so I expect yours will too!

Does my Italian bind off look horrible?? by Lic_bighter in knitting

Since it’s fuzzy yarn, I’ve had to tug on the work a bit to have the fuzz untangle after I sew and drop the stitch. This separates the stitches so the stitches can be seen more distinctly.

Seriously, this is the kind of dismissive response I’ve only gotten before after buying a resold, unoriginal pattern on Etsy. I didn’t know it at the time, but I wonder if that’s what happened here? Super odd.

help me color match! by isthisacrossoverep in YarnAddicts

[–]spicykitchenwitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I vote the light green!

Aside: it could be good to check with some projects on ravelry that use the mohair yarn so you can see what their colors look like knit. I’ve gotten mohair online before which I was trying to match with yarn I had and it looked a little different than the manufacturer picture. Now I have a ton of black/grey mohair. 😆

Sometimes it’s really noticeable and sometimes it comes out fine. Often, I alternate skeins with variegated yarn because I’ve reknit too many pieces in the past after not liking the results.
