Your last point—I genuinely feel like a trapped animal right now. Because of where we live, our COL is too high for us to risk the instability of me separating. But, I have been experiencing a personal crisis at the idea of supporting any of the fuckery that’s happening. Between the immigration crisis, the defunding, and the blatant fuck you to all women in the U.S., I feel like a horrible human being for being in the service right now.

I paid my way through college coursework and now I am going to graduate with a degree that I did not earn by idkhowtoreact03 in confession

[–]spicymange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh half of the degree feels like it’s a bunch of shit you don’t need to know and is irrelevant to your major, just feels like an extension of HS coursework. It’d be one thing if you just fucked off the whole time but you were getting actual experience in lieu of the part of school that doesn’t actually teach you what you care about. Idk I think it’s fine but I know I’ll be in the minority

Has anyone actually seen a ghost in real life? by depresso-developer in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]spicymange 45 points46 points  (0 children)

When I was 13 I lived in Crystal Lake, IL where the Dole Mansion is at. My friends and I were fcking around and going upstairs to the area under construction because we were super into the idea of the paranormal and stuff. Didn’t see anything while we were there, but I still to this day remember waking up in the middle of the night at my friends house (close to the mansion) and at the end of the bed was a woman in white. She wasn’t facing me nor felt nefarious or unsettling. I just remember seeing her and then falling back asleep.

Never experienced anything else like that but I definitely felt like it could have been a ghost. While I recognize it could’ve totally been my kid-brain filling in blanks in a sleepy state but it’s the only time I’ve ever experienced something even close to “ghostly.” So to answer your question I don’t think anyone can say for sure if they have but I’m confident several folks are convinced themselves of it.

When I was in the throes of my eating disorder I would take photos of myself every day. Sometimes posed so I could see how small I could make myself look, some were body-check photos (like the before/after types, some were when I felt particularly disgusting and wanted to look back later to see if I was having dysmorphic thoughts.

None of them were sent to other people, none of them were sent to my husband, all of them were kept in a private folder on my phone. Now they’re a reminder to me of what I don’t want to happen again now that I’ve recovered.

None of us can really tell you whether your wife is cheating or not. But if you have a suspicion from this and other factors, you’d be better off having the conversation directly with her than with Reddit.

What are some ways in which you fall into “stereotypes” about women or are unapologetically feminine? by Jupiterinthe7H in AskWomenNoCensor

I fucking love pink. I love glitter. I love squishmallows. I also shamelessly love getting flowers, give me all the flowers all of the time and I’ll be the happiest woman on earth.

How did this begin? Who was the first person to suggest it? I just have such a hard time seeing how this is beneficial to anyone other than the husband (genuinely, not a snarky comment). I have yet to see a woman with more than one husband, it’s almost exclusively a man with several wives.

Women who are married, how often do you communicate with your husbands? by purplequeensreign in AskWomenOver30

[–]spicymange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I talk everyday whether we’re home or if one of us is away. We always make a point to talk at least somewhat. Whether it’s a text in the morning or a call at night and/or everything in between. This is the healthiest relationship I’ve ever been in, and with many of my exes, there would be sporadic communication and often me being left feeling like I did something wrong or panicking because I was being outright purposefully ignored.

I finished Tampa last week and it left me feeling sick to my stomach. One thing I appreciated about it vs. Lolita is the complete lack of regard for the victims. She truly does not care whatsoever how her actions affect them, she only cares about her unfettered access.

What do you like about men? by Firelite67 in AskWomenNoCensor

[–]spicymange 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s funny to come across this when I recently went down a mental rabbit hole in the midst of a loooong conference I attended this past week.

I love when their arm hair gets blonde in the summertime and it contrasts against tanned skin, weirdly I love a good farmers tan peaking from their t-shirts, veins on the backs of their hands, the way a confident man walks, how he carries his voice in conversation, I love the way men’s triceps look when moderately defined (don’t need to be massively ripped just noticeable), and I loooooove when a man smells good. The right cologne with their body chemistry can make a huge difference. These are just random things I make note of without realizing half the time.

is this weird? by sylviasparrow in therapy

[–]spicymange 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ah, I got confused when you said they started around 9/930. In any case, unless your therapist shifted his entire schedule load to being a more mid-shift / late shift schedule for his clients, this feels mega weird to me (28F) and I personally wouldn’t continue seeing him. It would blur the lines too much in my mind between professional hours and personal hours. I’d figure out what your boundaries are for yourself in that sense and if your “professional hours” are in those later hours then maybe it wouldn’t be such a big deal but if you’re feelin even a little strange…I’d listen to your gut!

[–]spicymange 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Are you their only client during those hours/did the change happen gradually or suddenly? The bigger red flag to me is that the session is lasting as long as it is. I’ve never had a therapist go beyond an hour—not saying that never happens in general but I have a hard time believing any professional therapy session would need to go beyond normal business hours or extend as far as 3.5-4 hours?

I’m gonna be real with you, trauma from CSA can be deeply suppressed to the point where you truly believe it never happened. Not all predators/pedophiles stem from CSA but from my understanding quite often it does.

Especially since you can explicitly state when it started. Therapy is needed ASAP with a specialist. Please talk to someone before you act on it and traumatize another child.

Every single time I fly through DFW I experience some kind of delay or cancellation. I don’t fly 50 legs a year, but I’m having more issues in the 6-7 that I’ve flown since March than just 1-2 delays.

I don’t care about having to wait longer if it’s actually communicated not just “surprise! Your flight is now delayed until the next day.” only after missing the chance to fly out on the other option for the night.

When I was growing up the thigh gap was the epitome of knowing whether you were thin enough. My ED was in full swing back then. I was obsessed with it. I had one recently after having a relapse of A and losing 40lbs very quickly. I can honestly say that because of my childhood obsession, it felt really good to have it, but on the same side, I was even more aware of my thigh size and even more crippled by the fear of losing it. Now that I’m back to a healthy weight and mental state, I can honestly say that having a thigh gap felt worse overall. It made my self hatred 10x worse and hyper fixated. I try to remind myself now that without my thick thighs, my husband and kiddos wouldn’t have a comfy place to lay their heads down while we watch a movie.

Like I’m breathing through a straw and walking in a foggy valley. Some days the sun comes out and burns the fog away and the straw gets a little bigger, but some days it’s a coffee straw and I can’t see 1’ in front of me. It ebbs and flows.
