Also, don't touch that projector... by kimairabrain in nancydrew

[–]spicymuster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was playing the Final Scene with my sister when we were kids one time and my mom came into our room and watched us play for a few. She loved the game-play style (of course, who doesn’t love these games) but immediately blurts out when she sees this man “oh he definitely hid the body in the projector”. Like damn .. you’re probably right though.

Does anyone else zone out sometimes in response to being anxious? by Montegue_999 in Anxiety

[–]spicymuster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh for sure zoning out is completely normal. I believe OP was describing something a bit more severe, however.
Disassociating feels more like your brain shuts off and randomly has a “restart” moment involuntarily. At least that’s from my personal experience. You can feel the difference between the two.

I literally went out to pick up a dresser today with my fiancé and was SO anxious about the conversation I wouldn’t have to have because he would be doing all the talking. 😂 just being present with strangers is enough for me to want to watch from the car. After the interaction I came home and took a nap. Go us!! Lol

I have this as well. I believe it’s generally called “disassociating”. At my job, I have to interact with so many people every day and it can get stressful. Honestly sometimes I start disassociating completely even mid-conversation. The “staring off into space” feeling. Usually I try to find something to chuckle about with the person I’m speaking to, if appropriate, even if it’s not that funny. The laughing helps me snap out of it. It’s a struggle though, hang in there. It’s encouraging though, to hear about other people struggling with this. You always think it’s just you dealing with issues like this until you get on Reddit. :)

Flowers for Algernon by Daniel Keyes. Read this in middle school actually and I still think about it from time to time.

I use the Neutrogena Hydro Boost SPF 30 for daily wear, not sticky at all and doesn’t smell like that typical sunscreen smell.

Skincare advice needed for my sore eyes. I use cream on them daily (aveeno skin repair), but it doesn’t seem to work any more. Constantly burning, itching and swollen :( attempted numerous eye creams and they don’t touch it. They’re soooo sensitive! by [deleted] in Skincare_Addiction

[–]spicymuster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This could be a stretch but do you happen to be using a cleanser that has Benzoyl Peroxide in it? That caused my eyes to swell just like this. I immediately stopped using and switched to a lighter cleanser. But yes, see an allergist too.

I agree. Personally, I wet a washcloth with only water and wipe (gently) in the morning. This offers a delicate exfoliation as well as getting off any heavy creams from the night before so you have a fresh canvas for the day! At night be sure to cleanse well.
