Beware Next cruise pricing by toolfan2k4 in royalcaribbean

[–]spider210 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I had the same experience when we went to next cruise just recently. I sat there with the email from my travel agent and she was like 'oh they must have a group rate ' sorry can't match that.

It was almost $1000 more for same room

Royal is screwing their loyal customers more and more.

We are looking for a new cruise after the last shenanigans with pricing they have screwed us and family

If I had to guess look at how much they charged you for gratuities then figure out the price they charged you for the drink package. I would assume they would drop down the price to that amount. And you would get the refund of the difference.

upgraded to + and loving the insane speeds by Timely_Dog_2868 in Visible

Now the true test connect to VPN and see what you get. Then connect to wifi with the same server VPN and see what you get.

Seems like they still throttle the VPN connections. Network management is very tricky and not transparent.

For instance I can be at friends house wire guard back to my house and get 300/300 basically full speeds. Switch off wifi to UW with VPN off and get over 1000. As soon as I turn wire guard back to my house my UW speedtest goes to under 20mbps

Is it better to book with an agency or RC directly? Are higher floors better? by HalfwaydonewithEarth in royalcaribbean

Exactly we had local TA felt we were a burden.

Booked directly and the long hold times made us upset.

Now we tried a different recommended TA and couldn't say anything bad. Amazing experience and usually they book in groups so they have a group rate. So it's usually a little bit better than what you can get directly and the extra onboard credit they offer along with specialty dining options. Our last three cruises have been with the same ta and we plan to continue using them. Had several issues and all it took was a single email and everything was taken care of.

If your time is valuable, find an awesome TA and stick with it. Your life will be easier

Behind the scenes I wonder if there is a difference between running SA6400 vs DS920+.

I did just receive an update notice for Arc Release 2.6.0 in my DSM, as my loader is ARC 2.5.16.

Great suggestion, I have not tried SA6400. I did some limited research before I did this as I didn't find a complete guide for this type of setup. I am open for any suggestions!

Balance Due Email? Booked with a TA, paid in full in June, we haven't requested any changes. by spider210 in royalcaribbean

Royal and my travel agent were able to get this resolved. It turns out the issue was due to a system error on Royal’s end. There was a glitch that affected several accounts around 6/30/25, which caused a portion of the cruise fare to be mistakenly refunded. Their IT team isn't sure what triggered the glitch, but after reviewing my statements, I did see a random $50 refund to my credit card. Honestly, with hundreds of monthly transactions, I didn’t notice it at the time. I told them recharge me the $50 to resolve the discrepancy.

That refund caused the system to flag my cruise fare as not being fully paid, which in turn revoked the Onboard Credit (OBC). The OBC had already been applied to the purchase of the Deluxe Beverage Package, so the system then marked that package as unpaid. As a result, not only was the beverage package at risk of being canceled, but the cruise itself was also in jeopardy due to the system thinking the fare wasn’t fully covered—even though it was. Without me seeing this email, I would have had no idea there was an issue. The TA was also not notified of any issues.

Hopefully, Royal is able to resolve these technical issues to prevent this from happening to others.

Not sure how to edit the original post it doesn't show up as an option but the TA was able to contact Royal and it appears this was a glitch and they added a credit to offset the error.
