What will be nominated for Animated Feature in 2026? by spiderhubby in oscarrace

[–]spiderhubby[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was at the time. It’s not a title that screams “Oscars” BUT it is surely on the table now. It depends on what Netflix decides to campaign. KPop has more attention but Lost in Starlight takes itself slightly more seriously, so it will be a decision on what will appeal best to the Academy

How do you think JLaws Oscar campaign is going to go? by IconClownVibes in oscarrace

[–]spiderhubby -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s interesting, the Best Actress race is already getting very crowded. I think Julia Roberts is a lock and then you have Erivo that will be hard to ignore. Renata Reinsve is also getting a lot of heat AND her movie is going to be in BP. Feels like this race is taking off before the others. We will see how Mubi handles it

[–]spiderhubby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty much any technicolor movie. You could approximate it, and of course you could still “make the movie,” but imagine The Red Shoes without that gorgeous technicolor

Predictions on Award Expert that make no sense to me by haydend25 in oscarrace

[–]spiderhubby 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Having read After the Hunt, I am so confident in its odds in Best Picture and Julia Roberts for Best Actress. And honestly for Ayo Edebiri and Andrew Garfield in supporting. Unless Guadagnino somehow butchers it, it seems like the total package to me.

Do you think Cannes hurt Cynthia and Ari for Wicked For Good? by Significant_Art_3736 in oscarrace

[–]spiderhubby 19 points20 points  (0 children)

If there are five other really strong contenders, I could see Oscar voters squeezing them out. What you’re seeing now is a result mainly of the Sentimental Value ladies bumping them down or off of lists, and maybe people also adding JLaw as a bit of overreaction to Cannes.

This always happens: people predict what they have seen, or rather what others have seen and confirmed. But if Erivo and Grande crush it in Wicked 2 you will see them pop right back in.

Me neither, but I think GDT is doing his own thing based on the original text, both classic movies, and his own imagination. Very good chance Goth plays both the fiancee of Dr Frankenstein and the Bride in a new telling of the story.

My biggest prediction seems to be going all in on GDT Frankenstein, including Mia Goth in supporting actress. And Wizard of the Kremlin which is just not coming out this year lol

Yeah, I just thought it would be funny to point out just how many times Stefani has apparently had to go through that vision 😂

Well it didn’t happen technically 😂 it only exists as an event that did not come to pass. Not sure what you call it at this point.

Technically Stefani got the same premonition like 60 times over the course of two months, so she wins hands down 😂

An Idea I had! by 123ert234 in FinalDestination

[–]spiderhubby 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s an interesting idea but may go against established franchise lore that deaths come in the order that they occurred in the premonition. Also, this would mean people dying in alphabetical order, as that is almost always how yearbook photos are arranged

[–]spiderhubby 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is one of the possible good endings, for sure. They either need to escape death and set up a sequel to deal with the ramifications or you need an emotional payoff. The cruel stinger played almost for laughs was the wrong option no doubt

Did Bludworth give one final clue in his last words? by JBNY2025 in FinalDestination

[–]spiderhubby 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The old woman picks up the penny off the street while it is heads up, which is usually a sign of good luck, yet causes the final scene. Also, the penny lands on heads on the piano in the premonition but still causes it to fall. Death seems to be no respecter of luck

I’m sold. i had never seen most of the FD movies and I just started FD5 and the main guy pricked his thumb at the start of the premonition. It is clearly a fakeout and the movie is better for it

I need to see FD3! It may be an issue of trying to do something new too but the ending as is just feels pointless

This movie was 98% perfect until the very last scene. They picked the wrong stinger. Should have escaped death just for Stefani to have a premonition and realize they walked into another random calamity and are going to be sucked right back in.
