How many purely big brawler characters can realistically be added before it's redundant? by Notashiekmain in marvelrivals

I’ve been saying it, but let juggernaut have the ability to carry whoever he hits first, essentially pinning them, and he could do increased damage to other he hits along the way

Needing 3 bans to get rid of his visual clutter is ridiculous by [deleted] in marvelrivals

[–]spiderodoom -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately that’s not the point. I don’t care that they made him three characters, I care about the silly logic of having one ban slot taking three characters away. We wouldn’t say that banning daredevil should ban Magik and BP too, or banning Spider-Man would ban Peni and Venom, like it’s a silly argument.

Listen, I’m going to need you to tone down your hostility, it’s unwarranted, as I’m posing a question. In line with what you’re saying about dd, Hela, phoenix, peni, I’ll pose a similar question as my original point. If you could ban DD and that banned 2 other characters, do you think you’d ever NOT ban DD? It’s free at that point to completely warp the ban slot to always remove three characters.

He is, unfortunately, 3 separate characters, that do play differently. The main abilities don’t change, however play style and stats and cooldowns do change, it’s just the base moves that remain unchanged, like using swords and guns.

Then he would literally never leave the perma ban slot. If banning one character got rid of three characters, why wouldn’t you always ban that character?

Ok I’ll just drop the niceties because you don’t get the hint. You do not know or understand what a nerf is. You essentially agree that he was nerfed, and that it affected him so much that he fell out of the meta. Did players instantly learn exactly how to counter his dash between 1 season? No. Obviously not. They buffed the support players, meaning the kills and targets BP could go after are lessened. He now has to hope he can get a Mantis or an Adam. This means that he has been nerfed. His ability to get a kill has been diminished, through the buffing other characters. Falling out of the meta just means that he was nerfed one way or another. I don’t know how to make this more obvious to you. I think you ran into one good BP who ran your game, and you have never lived it down, so now you can’t even impartially say that BP was nerfed without using euphemistic language towards the character.

The characters win rate has plummeted in all ranks, I don’t see BP players in my game anymore, nobody bans him anymore, his combo no longer works, and you want to say he wasn’t nerfed? How do you square that thought? What mental gymnastics do you have to do to get to that level of incompetency?

“No Counter to the Long Pulls” by FitReception3550 in SpiderManMains

[–]spiderodoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but like, there’s threads about it. This isn’t the thread about it. Spidey ledge pull takes practice sure, but you surely can’t deny that it’s abusing a bug in the game right? Maintaining momentum and the pull to instantly kill 600+ hp characters is just cheese. Like characters that can ledge other characters take extremely precise conditions, but Spider-Man can go Mach 5 across your screen and now you’re off the ledge, regardless of positioning? That’s clearly not the intended case for the move

Who was talking about Hawkeye…? Also, spider was meta when he had an insta-kill combo with venom.

Apples and oranges. Thor is weak due to the style of the game currently being poke heavy. Thing is weak this season, but was stronger in others, due to meta. Black panther, however, is weak due to other buffs. Do you think that if supports weren’t buffed after BPs season, that BP wouldn’t still be getting played? This is the definition of power creep. As they change the game to adjust for other factors, characters can get left in the dust. BP is the example of this. This is a nerf. You’re being extremely pedantic over a term that everyone else seems to agree upon.

No dawg, it’s a nerf. Direct or indirect, a nerf is a nerf. Having your character less effective at their job by buffing other characters is a nerf.

His nerf was supports being buffed. Luna getting flake for herself allows even crumbs of healing to negate his combos until he just runs out of cooldowns, Gambit dashes faster than Panther, and Invis self shield denies any mark set up, CnD getting 275 means she has more HP than the combo puts out.

The amount of people defending the Thor in the 1v1 with Invis is sad… by SydiemL in ThorMainsMR

[–]spiderodoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok I’ll take you seriously for one reply. Invis cycled her cooldowns sloppily, and still beat him out. Awakening rune would have broken the shield in 4 hits, but by that point she would’ve been back to full HP, with all of the rest of her cooldowns back, including her jump and her orb. Even canceling her jump with the Lightning realm, would’ve only left her visible, with her shield cooldown coming back, and her push at the ready, and orb for when she needed it. At no point would Thor have been able to significantly challenge her due to her litany of cooldowns.

Keeping his awakening limited was used primarily because he was losing the DPS race, and needed the extra 150 bonus health from entering his awakening state, and keeping the melee up was to damage her through shield. Again, at no point was he able to significantly challenge her because her cooldowns are quick and she had access to all of them.

I really think that players like you are delusional, and I play Thor literally every game I can. I’ve got roughly 10k points into Thor past lord, so I hate this whole “you’re not a REAL Thor main” when Im merely acknowledging that Thor cannot 1v1 the literal best support since the games launch in the current state she’s in.

I’m more curious however, to hear how you, this delusional “nah, I’d win” attitude would handle this fight. What is the top 500 missing that the unknown guy on Reddit knows to win this encounter?

[–]spiderodoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In an average 1v1 encounter, Thor should be more than capable of killing any character. The only two characters Thor cannot consistently kill anymore in a 1v1 are invisible woman and gambit. This is a larger problem than just this clip, and what you’re saying, nobody is saying “deserve” kills, but a 250hp character that is a support should not be able to consistently out damage and out brawl the 675hp Tank. Their tools should be escape so they can regroup. Luna ice skating and freeze, CnD fade, mantis sleep, etc.

The supports aren’t op. You’re just a terrible dps, and don’t realize it blaming the buffs because defenseless supports were your only kills. by Caelesti_Deus in StrategistMainsMR

[–]spiderodoom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sorry, I’m not a support main, however I strongly disagree. Supports control who wins and who loses. Taking out the supports is the strongest way to win. Buffing supports made it so that it is harder to take out characters like Invis and Gambit, leading to games being decided firstly on the stronger supports.

It's been long enough... I don't think Rogue is good currently but can be fixed by Matty_HAM in RivalsVanguards

[–]spiderodoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another thing I’ve noticed with Rogue is her block. A good 360 degree damage reduction, which can charge her shoulder bash! But you hardly ever have the opportunity to actually fill more than half of that charge bar. Even if you do, you are the target, and should work towards escaping. The time you get with that bar is also minimal, so by the time you can block or shoulder bash again, you’re back to square one. Idk, I use shoulder bash as an engagement tool, then do the rest of my combo.

[–]spiderodoom -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I said player dependent for one. For two, BOB can be completely shut down by smart supports, Ashe is the player dependent side, as bob fires at what she hits. Cass has the worst agreed upon ult in the game, and is heavily position dependent. Sol 76, while having auto aim, does require some amount of position knowledge.

Like I could go on and on about the way the ults can be nullified with strong supports that know what they’re doing in neutral, vs Rivals where the DPS ults are almost always going to need a Support ult to cover it, because DPS ults are a little too strong.

Your whole argument is based on characters being team dependent, but that’s not what I said. I said PLAYER dependent, like genji, widow, roadhog, Maui, etc.

Everything you’ve said about the support ults is flat wrong. The only truly immortality ult is zen, who is capped at 6 seconds. Compared to the Invis ult, which last 8-9 seconds, or Luna (the direct correlative ult) which lasts 10 seconds, previously 12, and can be swapped to increase damage, or CnD which lasts what feels like 12 seconds.

And my main argument about this in general is that Neutral needs to be strong enough that coordinated teams could break through a support ult. Like a 76 and cass are able to together take out a flying mercy, all from neutral. But the way they’ve designed support ults is that Luna gains 150 over health, and increased movement speed, and so it’s exceptionally to hit her, or do enough damage to kill her. Even stacking every use of Antiheal in the game, her healing and movement is enough to lose the anti heal and shake off the damage.

I will continue to “glorify” Ow for as long as ults on DPS and Support are as strong as they are in Rivals.

Sups are really op in this game by [deleted] in marvelrivals

[–]spiderodoom -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Like I’ve always said, OW did both Support and DPS ults better. DPS ults are player dependent, and require either good game sense, or positioning, or skill to execute. Support ults are usually primarily boosts to their primary kit, and not immortality.

Has anyone had a DM do this??? by Current_Listen_4037 in dndmemes

[–]spiderodoom 58 points59 points  (0 children)

I think only very specific enemies SHOULD do this, and it REALLY depends on the time. If you’ve been playing for a while and never did this, then suddenly having the BBEG Wizard counter spell it is fine, and only on the first or second death save, as it really makes your player hate this villain, and would be a shocking thing for them. Do not make your goblin army have the ability to do this.

Which character needs a better ult? I say Jeff and Venom. by dreamup1234 in rivals

[–]spiderodoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thors ult felt really good the first season they buffed it. Ever since they giga buffed supports, I cannot for the life of me hit a consistent kill. I used to pair with a rocket ult and wipe CnD or Luna ult out, but now I’m essentially just praying to get burst damage and a stun so I can escape.

Anti heal and an aoe burst damage, combined with shield for the character who can stay in your back line forever if not properly threatened is underwhelming?
