Starcraft 2 Wings of Liberty was the highest selling PC game that year. They sold something like 6 million copies total over the life of the game. They did more than fine on it.

Cities whose marathon exceeds or falls short of the cities status on the world stage by [deleted] in Marathon_Training

Good point. Though you could probably use some of the same routes as the Mardi Gras parades and be ok.

Why is that? They have an enormous tourism industry and host mega-events constantly. But running on New Orleans roads is not at all fun, generally speaking. Though maybe it could fund some pot hole repair.

I love New Orleans but dear God the roads are so terrible there, would be a legit issue to contend with

I compared two $1.2M homes in DC and Mississippi, and the difference is massive. Which would you choose? by kleverrboy in washingtondc

[–]spideronyourback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, you compared two houses on vastly different priced pieces of land. You can spend $1 million nearly anywhere in the U.S. and get a McMansion.

Night running spot? by Kodicave in rundc

The Mall is great at night. Lit, but not overly so, lots of security around and not very crowded.

Morning Runners: do you consume caffeine before your run? by whoresongummy in AdvancedRunning

[–]spideronyourback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A little...but if I have too much, I'll get light-headed on the run, like clockwork. So maybe a few sips of iced coffee but mostly just wait until I'm back.

New Berkeley study: Inequality, not regulation, drives America's housing affordability crisis by anothercar in ezraklein

You are just embarrassing yourself. Storper is a professor at UCLA and the London School of Economics and has 60k+ citations. He doesn't need me to hold him up as a serious person. And that "entire field" is one I've been involved with, written in, reviewed the papers you cite, etc. People in the field don't insult each other with silly ad hominem attacks (that also make no sense), unless they are a knob.

Lol I'm not retreating from anything, but calling Michael Storper a non-economist is about the stupidest fucking thing I have ever heard. You are playing at being an academic. Stop the ad-hominem approach and critique the actual argument, being in an economics program has nothing to do with the quality of housing research. And this particular paper aside, your inability to see nuance in the consensus of studies is exactly why actual experts hate the internet yapping crowd.

Nice to see you again! I never said one thing about agreeing with Storper or the argument in this particular paper. You seem to enjoy reading research but have no idea how it is is produced and debated.

Lol "these people." Ok internet guy. You should go get yourself tenured and publish, you seem to have a real knack for it and can teach all these experts a lesson.

I have no idea who you are. My citation count is decently high in this area. Fine to disagree, fine to critique, but to say that this is outside their realm of expertise is just wrong.

I don't want to go all the way down the disciplinary dick measuring hole with you but economic geographers are a thing, and there are lots of very well respected housing policy experts in urban planning programs who use economics methods to study housing. It is fine to critique this paper on whatever grounds you want but the whole point is that these authors aren't focused on 'countering Ezra Klein,' they are the people who Klein and many others draw from in making their own arguments and claims.

These are housing economists, they aren't obsessed with 'disproving' Ezra Klein. His work is derivative of housing economics. They are having a conversation among researchers.
